Marine Vessel Project Coordinator
Diversified Marine Service LLC is seeking an experienced Marine Vessel Project Coordinator to join our growing shipyard team. We specialize in the construction of steel inland pushboats, towboats, and other commercial marine vessels. This position is ideal for someone with strong shipbuilding experience who can coordinate projects from contract award through vessel delivery.
The Project Coordinator will work closely with management, engineering, purchasing, production supervisors, subcontractors, and customers to ensure each project is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Responsibilities
Coordinate all phases of commercial vessel construction from kickoff through delivery.
Develop and maintain project schedules and monitor production progress.
Work with engineering to ensure drawings and revisions are released to production on time.
Coordinate purchasing of steel, equipment, and vessel components.
Schedule and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and owner-furnished equipment.
Conduct regular production meetings with fabrication, outfitting, piping, electrical, and paint departments.
Track project costs, labor hours, and production milestones.
Identify scheduling conflicts and proactively resolve issues that could impact delivery.
Prepare progress reports for management and customers.
Ensure work complies with ABS, USCG, Subchapter M, and customer specifications where applicable.
Coordinate inspections, testing, sea trials, and final vessel delivery.
Promote and maintain a strong safety culture throughout all phases of construction.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of marine shipyard, vessel construction, or heavy industrial project management experience preferred.
Experience building inland towboats, pushboats, barges, or commercial vessels is highly preferred.
Strong understanding of steel fabrication, welding, piping, machinery installation, and vessel outfitting.
Ability to read and interpret marine construction drawings and specifications.
Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word); experience with Microsoft Project or similar scheduling software is a plus.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet demanding schedules.
Self-motivated with strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
