Summary:

Bonitz, Inc., an employee-owned company, is looking for a full-time commercial (finishes) Estimator. The successful candidate will be able to work independently, as well as part of a team, and will be responsible for conducting their work in a professional, accurate, and timely manner. This individual is someone who wants to join a continuously growing organization. This position works directly with the Project Consultants, Project Specialists, Project Managers and Installation Crews to support essential team-based functions and daily project operations.

Overview:

Founded in 1954, Bonitz, Inc. is an Employee-Owned Company operating as specialty trade commercial contractors servicing the construction industry. Bonitz designs and installs custom flooring, walls, ceilings, and cladding systems. We offer access, terrazzo and other specialty flooring as well as floor care. We are committed to providing best in class project consulting, project management, and craftsmanship while delivering superior service and practical solutions. Bonitz has divisions in SC, NC, GA, TN, VA, LA, and FL.

Position Essential Duties:

  • Support team with information in a timely and accurate manner
  • The ability to work with multiple projects concurrently.
  • Communicate internally with Project Consultants and Project Managers.
  • Must be able to concentrate for an extended period, work independently but in a team as well.
  • Ability to work with initiative and independence, as well as team environment

Job Responsibilities:

Pre-Construction

  • Attend preconstruction (Guardrail) meetings
  • Determines materials and quantities required for specific projects.
  • Required to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
  • Perform material takeoff and provide accurate summary of materials required.
  • Ability to research all products required to complete job, calling vendors when needed.
  • Determine safety requirements on the job.

Construction

  • Have a working knowledge of the projects that are currently in process.
  • Available to assist Project Managers with changes throughout projects.
  • Urgency in assisting with change orders.

Travel

  • Minimal but possible travel for training, meetings at other Bonitz offices.

Education/Experience and Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years’ experience preferred
  • CAD and estimating software background helpful, but not required
  • Strong creative and critical thinking, self-starter
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Strong time management and organization skills
  • Proficient math and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of commercial or residential construction products preferred.
  • Previous commercial or residential construction experience is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Office 365 preferred
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Must be able to pass a background, drug, and motor vehicle check.
  • Must be committed to working safely while accomplishing all tasks.

Safety Requirements:

  • Ensure that all safety training and certifications are up to date or scheduled.
  • Stay compliant with all Bonitz safety polices to ensure a safe and efficient workplace.
