Organization Overview 
Excel Academy is a network of 5 schools in Massachusetts and Rhode Island that prepares students in grades 5-12 to succeed in high school and college and engage productively in their communities. The majority of our 1,700 students identify as Latino or Hispanic and will be the first in their families to graduate from college. Your Impact
We are hiring a Bus Monitor to  support the safe and orderly transportation of students to and from school. This role ensures that students follow bus safety rules, assists with boarding and exiting, and provides additional support to students with special needs or behavioral challenges. The Bus Monitor will communicate regularly with school staff regarding student safety and support needs. This Monitor will also provide feedback and redirection to students on the bus to ensure they meet safety expectations.
Location, Pay and Hours
  • $19.50/hour
  • In the morning, meet the bus at the first stop in Chelsea (across from City Hall), and end at Excel Academy-East Boston (58 Moore Street). In the afternoon, meet the bus at Excel Academy-East Boston (58 Moore Street) and end at the last stop in Chelsea (across from City Hall).
  • Morning Shifts are Monday - Friday, 7 a.m. - 8 a.m., Afternoon Shifts are Monday - Thursday, 3:10 p.m. - 4:10 p.m. and Friday: 1:30 p.m.- 2:30 p.m.

Qualifications                   
  • Prior experience working with children is highly preferred  
  • Spanish proficiency is preferred but not required 
  • Members of the community (i.e. Parents) strongly encouraged to apply
  • Sense of responsibility for the safety of students            
  • Communicate well with others and ability to enforce rules calmy       
  • Successful results of Criminal Offender Record Information check.
