Join our team to find a purpose-driven career, an inclusive culture, and robust benefits to support your life while you're working to help others.
Position Overview
Our Mission at Exact Sciences is to eradicate cancer and the suffering it causes - through tests that help prevent it, detection that finds it earlier, and guidance for its successful treatment. Come join our team and make a difference in other people's lives.
The Technician, within the Instrument Production and Services department, is primarily responsible for manufacturing and servicing Exact's internally designed equipment. This position supports a collaborative environment that promotes positive teamwork where all members are working for the good of Exact Sciences. This is an ideal role for a hands-on candidate looking to grow their knowledge of instrumentation, electronics and automation while making an impact in the fight against cancer.
Essential Duties
Include but are not limited to the following:
  • Use basic hand tools and inspection equipment to assemble stand-alone electromechanical systems and subassemblies by following written instructions.
  • Understand mechanical part and assembly drawings, both as drawings and in 3D CAD.
  • Assist with the commissioning of newly manufactured automated systems including tear down and reassembly at the customer's facility.
  • Hydraulic and Pneumatic plumbing.
  • Assemble, solder and route cables and wires per documented procedures.
  • Use computer applications to adjust, calibrate and debug instruments per documentation.
  • Operate and program industrial robotics.
  • Test and troubleshoot complex, custom machines under the guidance of more senior technicians.
  • Assist with equipment escalations from our Service and Metrology departments.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal customers.
  • Interact with internal customers regarding repairs, training, or other activities.
  • Support engineers by building prototype systems or fixtures.
  • Take direction and gain knowledge from more senior teammates.
  • Read and follow process documentation.
  • Complete and submit accurate manufacturing records in compliance with cGMP.
  • Perform activities in compliance with the relevant safety and regulatory bodies such as OSHA, ISO, and the FDA.
  • Participate in small process or product improvement projects with an emphasis on efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Use common computer applications for communication and documentation.
  • Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork.
  • Support and comply with the company's Quality Management System policies and procedures.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds for < 5% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to work seated for approximately 50% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to work standing for approximately 50% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to work in front of a computer screen for approximately 50% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to comply with all applicable personal protective equipment requirements.
  • Ability to travel approximately 10% of working time for occasional training or travel between Exact Sciences sites.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in Engineering, Technology, or Electronics, with 4+ years of relevant experience; or, in lieu of Associate degree, High School Degree with 6+ years of experience in a technical field.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications as well as other basic computer skills.
  • Efficient and organized with the ability to work independently or in a team setting.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Adaptable, open to change and able to work in ambiguous situations and respond to new information and unexpected circumstances.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in an FDA/cGMP/CAP/CLIA regulated production environment for 2+ years.
