The Mission Enabling Products (MEP) organization in San Diego is seeking an experiencedQuality Inspector with relevant aerospace industry experience in our Quality Assurance department. This employee will be working on small, medium and/or large government and commercial programs.

Job Summary

The Quality Inspector performs dimensional inspections per work order and drawing requirements. They have the ability to utilize precision hand tools and surface plate setups and are proficient in blueprint reading.

  • Inspects purchased parts and materials for conformity to standards, specifications, and processing requirements.

  • Inspects for proper identity and dimensions using such measuring devices as micrometers, gauges, and calipers

  • Visually inspects for obvious defects or damage such as corrosion, cracks, dents, scratches, and pits.

  • Verifies specifications using purchase orders, blueprints, drawing or inspection instructions, and checklists.

  • Makes pass/fail decisions on inspected goods. Maintains records of results.

  • Inspections may involve compound angles or three-dimensional projections using inspection equipment such as microscopes, micrometers, telescope gauges, and optical comparators.

Basic Qualifications for Level 1:

  • High School Diploma and 0 years of additional education/or related experience

  • Proficiency with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancingper ASME Y14.5

  • Experience inspecting tight tolerance machined components with complex geometry

  • Experience with dimensional inspection using precision hand tools and surface plate setup

  • Proficient blueprint reading skills

  • Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems

  • Familiarity with aerospace standards (ex. AS9100, ISO9001)

  • Competent in Microsoft Word & Excel

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in ateam environment

Basic Qualifications for Level 2:

  • High School Diploma and 2 years of additional education/or related experience

  • Proficiency with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancingper ASME Y14.5

  • Experience inspecting tight tolerance machined components with complex geometry

  • Experience with dimensional inspection using precision hand tools and surface plate setup

  • Proficient blueprint reading skills

Primary Level Salary Range: $47,200.00 - $78,600.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $0.00 - $0.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
