Title: Receiving Manager
Report To: Distribution Center Facility Manager
Position Summery
The Receiving Manager oversees all receiving operations within the warehouse. This role ensures that incoming shipments are accurately received, inspected, documented, and stored according to company procedures. The manager supervises receiving staff, maintains inventory accuracy, and coordinates with vendors, transportation teams, and warehouse operations to ensure efficient workflow
Responsibilities
- Manage daily receiving operations for all inbound shipments.
- Supervise and train receiving team members and warehouse staff.
- Verify incoming shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and delivery documents.
- Inspect goods for damage, defects, or discrepancies.
- Ensure accurate inventory entry in the warehouse management system (WMS).
- Coordinate with purchasing, logistics, and inventory teams regarding deliveries and shortages.
- Maintain organized storage and staging areas for incoming products.
- Monitor and enforce safety policies and warehouse procedures.
- Schedule staff to meet workload demands and shipping schedules.
- Investigate and resolve receiving errors, shortages, or damaged goods claims.
- Maintain documentation and reporting for receiving activities and inventory accuracy.
- Continuously improving receiving processes and efficiency.
- Provides direction of assigned employees in scheduling and daily activities, ensuring effective selection, retention, feedback, disciplinary action and performance management
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with management and hourly team members
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- 3–5+ years of warehouse experience, including supervisory or management experience.
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and inventory control.
- Knowledge of receiving procedures, inventory management, and safety regulations.
- Ability to operate and supervise operation of forklifts and warehouse equipment
Physical Requirements
- Moderate walking, standing, and climbing throughout the shift
- Regular lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of pallets and products
- Frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching (up to 15% of the shift), and reaching
- Ability to lift and handle objects weighing 30+ pounds on a frequent basis
- Exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, dust, cold, heat, and loud noise
- Above-average coordination (eye-hand, hand-foot, balance) and physical endurance
