What does an affiliate marketing manager do?

An affiliate marketing manager is responsible for handling the business relationships between an online retailer and its marketing affiliates. The marketing affiliates are other websites or individuals that earn commission for driving sales traffic to the online retailer’s product. As an affiliate marketing manager, your job duties include growing the network of affiliates, monitoring sales from affiliate sites, and helping with affiliate questions or concerns. A career as an affiliate marketing manager typically requires a bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, or a related field, and relevant work experience with online marketing and affiliate programs. Additional qualifications include strong team management, communication, and negotiation skills, as well as the ability to work with and analyze technical data.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an affiliate marketing manager?

To thrive as an Affiliate Marketing Manager, you need a strong foundation in digital marketing, analytics, and relationship management, often supported by a degree in marketing or a related field. Familiarity with affiliate tracking platforms (like Impact or CJ Affiliate), analytics tools (such as Google Analytics), and certifications in digital marketing are highly beneficial. Excellent negotiation, communication, and strategic thinking skills help build successful partnerships and drive program growth. These skills and qualities are crucial for optimizing affiliate networks, maximizing ROI, and ensuring effective collaboration with partners.

What are some common challenges faced by affiliate marketing managers, and how can they be effectively addressed?

Affiliate Marketing Managers often face challenges such as managing a diverse network of partners, ensuring compliance with brand guidelines, and tracking the performance of multiple campaigns simultaneously. These challenges can be effectively addressed by implementing robust tracking and reporting tools, maintaining clear and regular communication with affiliates, and establishing transparent policies for commission structures and promotional methods. Proactively addressing potential issues and staying informed about industry trends also help in maintaining productive affiliate relationships and driving successful outcomes.

Job description

About the Role
Vida Group is looking for an Affiliate Marketing Manager to join our growing portfolio of footwear brands. We are looking for a proactive, detail-oriented candidate to help scale our affiliate program. This role owns the full lifecycle of our affiliate program and strategy - from partner recruitment and content collaboration to performance tracking and program optimization. We're looking for a true self-starter who thrives in a fast-moving, multi-brand environment and can juggle competing priorities without losing sight of the details.
Title: Affiliate Marketing Manager
Compensation: $75k - 95k
What You'll Do
• Manage day-to-day affiliate operations across multiple brands, including partner recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing relationship management
• Develop brand-specific affiliate strategies that are unique to each brand's positioning and consumer audience
• Set and monitor commission structures, ensuring profitability across vastly different price points and margin profiles
• Own our affiliate network platform (Impact)- including tracking setup, link management, partner payouts, and troubleshooting
• Analyze performance data across all brands to identify top-performing partners, content types, and channels; reallocate budget and attention accordingly
• Recruit and negotiate with new affiliates, influencers, content creators, and coupon/loyalty sites appropriate to each brand's audience
• Ensure brand compliance and messaging consistency across all affiliate content and partner channels
• Monitor for fraud, policy violations, and coupon/code misuse across the affiliate network
• Prepare regular performance reporting and forecasts for leadership, broken out by brand
• Stay current on affiliate industry trends, tools, and best practices
What We're Looking For
• 3-5+ years of affiliate marketing experience, with prior experience at a marketing or advertising agency preferred
• Proven ability to manage multiple brands, clients, or accounts concurrently without losing attention to detail
• Experience working across different price tiers, target audiences, or brand positioning (bonus if you've worked on both premium and mass-market/value brands)
• Hands-on experience with an affiliate platform such as Impact, ShareASale, Commission Junction, or equivalent affiliate networks
• Strong analytical skills - comfortable in spreadsheets and platform dashboards, able to translate data into action
• Excellent relationship-management and negotiation skills with external partners
• Highly organized, with the ability to context-switch between brands and priorities throughout the day
• Comfortable working independently; this role does not manage a team
• Retail, footwear, or e-commerce experience is a plus but not required
Thank you in advance for your interest in this opening. Vida Shoes International is an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability or protected veteran status. At this time, only qualified candidates will be contacted.
Direct applicants only, no third-party staffing inquiries, please.
