Plooto

Toronto, ON

Job description

About Plooto

Plooto is a payment automation platform built to help accountants, bookkeepers, and their clients take control of their payables and receivables. From approval workflows and audit trails to bulk payments and automated reconciliation, Plooto gives our customers time back and confidence that their books are accurate and up to date. Our customers range from busy entrepreneurs to finance teams and non-profits, with a strong footprint among accounting firms and bookkeeping professionals across Canada.

About the role

We're looking for a Senior Manager, Event Marketing to own our event strategy end to end — from deciding which events deserve our time and budget, to flawlessly executing them on-site. This is a highly visible, high-ownership role for someone who can move fluidly between strategic thinking (working closely with Demand Gen to recommend events to bring in new leads) and hands-on execution (making sure the booth, the swag, the sales reps, and the speaker are all exactly where they need to be).

Reporting to the Director of Brand & Content Strategy, you'll manage everything from intimate local lunch & learns and client dinners to large-scale conference sponsorships and speaking engagements, and you'll be the connective tissue that keeps leadership, sales, and marketing aligned before, during, and after every event.

This is a highly visible role with real ownership. You'll play an important part in how Plooto shows up in the market, in person, and you'll see the direct impact of your work on pipeline and customer growth. You'll work closely with demand generation team members, with the autonomy to build the event program the way you know it should be built.

What you'll do

Event strategy

  • Define which events Plooto should attend, sponsor, or host — and at what level of participation — based on their potential to drive new customer acquisition and support current customers
  • Evaluate the ROI of owned and sponsored events and work closely with Demand Gen to recommend where to invest
  • Build and maintain an annual event calendar that balances local, regional, and national opportunities
  • Be the front-line owner of the events budget, ensuring our investments stay on budget
  • Recommend any technology platforms critical for successful event management

Event logistics and execution

  • Own pre-event planning end to end: budgets, timelines, vendor coordination, booth design, materials, staffing plans, and logistics
  • Lead flawless on-site execution for events of every scale, from a 10-person lunch & learn to a large conference sponsorship
  • Oversee owned events directly, including local lunch & learns, client dinners, and office visits.

Cross-functional coordination

  • Prep leadership for speaking engagements, panels, and other visible moments
  • Brief sales teams ahead of events so they're ready to staff booths and have productive, informed conversations with prospects and clients
  • Partner with marketing to ensure event participation is promoted effectively before, during, and after

Program ownership

  • Operate independently across the full spectrum of event work — from recommending which events to attend, to executing them without heavy oversight
  • Track and report on event performance against pipeline and utilization goals
  • Continuously refine processes and playbooks so events run more efficiently over time
What you bring
  • 7+ years of experience in event marketing, field marketing, or a related function, ideally in a B2B environment
  • A track record of both strategic event planning and detail-obsessed, on-the-ground execution
  • Extreme attention to detail and flawless project management skills, with the ability to document and project manage in Notion and Clickup; you're the person who catches the thing everyone else missed
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills; comfortable briefing executives, coordinating with sales, and aligning with marketing
  • Confidence in operating independently and owning outcomes from strategy through execution
  • Based in Ontario, with the flexibility to travel for ~10-15 events throughout the year. Travel will be 75% based in Canada (Heavy in Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal) with some occasional travel to the U.S. possible.
  • Experience in SaaS, fintech, or marketing to accountants/bookkeepers in Canada is a strong plus
Our Commitment to Inclusion

Plooto is committed to building an inclusive workplace where people of all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives can thrive. We know that great teams are built through diverse thinking, and we encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't align perfectly with every qualification listed.

Accommodation is available throughout the recruitment process in accordance with applicable accessibility legislation. If you require accommodation at any stage, please let us know—we're happy to work with you.

This posting is for one available position. Compensation will be determined based on the successful candidate's knowledge, skills, experience, and overall alignment with the role.
