Summary

The Events Manager - Global, working in collaboration with and in support of the firm's cross-border US, Canada, Latin Americas, and global strategic events and initiatives, working closely with stakeholders to develop and provide strategic leadership for all event types. This includes overseeing all pre-event, onsite, and post-event logistical operations. Performs all responsibilities with a commitment to providing "white glove service" to the firm's attorneys and professional staff, as well as firm clients and business partners. This role may require travel domestically and internationally and works across a variety of countries, regions and time zones, which does require adaptability and flexibility to best service stakeholders.


Location

This position can sit in our New York or Miami office and offers a hybrid work schedule with a minimum of 2-3 days in the office.
Responsibilities

  • Identify venue, create budget, develop planning timeline, and negotiate vendor contracts.

  • Work with the communications and design teams to develop invitations, oversee invitation distribution, and manage event mailing lists.

  • Manage and utilize the CVENT platform to create invitations, build registration pages and microsites, manage attendee lists and profiles, create reports, and update and maintain data pre and post event.

  • Produce events to align with DLA Piper's reputation as a world-class provider.

  • Travel as needed to other cities where DLA Piper events are hosted.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Desired Skills

Experience with Cvent management software. Must possess solid project management skills and be capable of working well under pressure and quickly adapting to change in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Excellent communication skills and professional appearance, demeanor and work ethic are required. Staying up to date on industry trends and best practices, attending webinars and seeking opportunities for professional growth are strongly encouraged. Ability to produce high level events that reach our top-tier clients; establish good working relationships with vendors; and demonstrate high quality client service while maintaining a pleasant demeanor in stressful situations. Solid negotiating skills in order to achieve high level goals while staying within budget parameters for each event. Knowledge of event technologies and how to leverage technology to enhance the attendee journey. Ability to identify and implement strategies for collecting relevant data to drive future decision making. Detail oriented, thorough proofreading skills, and possesses the ability to prioritize. Must be a self-starter who is able to work with minimal supervision and have good interpersonal skills and possess the ability to work with many different personalities. Flexibility to work long hours as needed. Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, WebEx, Word, and basic use of databases.

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field.

Minimum Years of Experience

  • 4 years' experience of professional/corporate meeting planning or meeting management position.

Physical Demands

The firm's expected hiring range for this position is $100,787 - $153,578 per year depending on the candidate's geographic market location.

The compensation offered for employment will also be dependent on other factors including the candidate's experience, skills, educational and professional background, and overall qualifications. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k).
