Job description

The Opportunity:

We are seeking an ambitious, highly autonomous Events Manager to serve as a key operational and strategic support partner to the Director of Events. In this mid-level role, you will collaborate across the event lifecycle for our flagship annual conference, SpiceWorld, alongside regional activations. The ideal candidate brings 3 to 5 years of experience, thrives on execution, and is ready to support both high-level strategy and tactical execution.Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic & Attendee Experience Support: Support the Director in aligning event initiatives with business goals and brand strategy. Help manage attendee touchpoints across pre-event communications, on-site experiences, and post-event analysis.c
  • Sponsorship & Sales Alignment: Collaborate with sales teams, join sponsor calls, assist in executing custom activation packages, and work with CS to ensure all sponsor contractual deliverables are fulfilled.
  • Vendor & Venue Coordination: Serve as the primary operational contact for external vendors, agencies, and venue management (AT&T Conference Center). Source competitive bids, evaluate proposals, assist with contract reviews, and oversee room sets and catering flow.
  • Event Technology & Data Administration: Lead the setup and maintenance of event platforms (Cvent/Bizzabo) to manage attendee registration, data integrity, the mobile app, and the exhibitor portal.
  • Onsite Execution & Production: Lead onsite load-in, setup, and strike, coordinating power, Wi-Fi, AV, decor, security, temporary labor, and real-time logistical troubleshooting.
  • Content & Speaker Logistics: Support program curation efforts and manage speaker requirements, including AV setup, green room logistics, and tech run-throughs.
  • Budget Tracking & Fulfillment: Track baseline budgets, audit vendor invoices, manage room blocks, and oversee creative assets, swag fulfillment, and shipping logistics.
Job Qualifications:
  • 3 to 5 years of corporate event management experience, preferably in B2B or tech.
  • Experience with flagship, owned user conferences and direct management of hotels and conference centers is strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on expertise in event tech platforms (Cvent, Bizzabo, or equivalent) for registration and sponsor management.
  • Strong contract literacy with experience reviewing vendor proposals and tracking event budgets.
  • Practical knowledge across the full event lifecycle, including strategy support and content coordination.
  • Texas location preferred, with availability to travel to SpiceWorld (Nov 12-13 in Austin, TX) and attend site visits as needed

Ziff Davis provides a range for the base pay. Factors that may be used to determine your actual pay may include your specific job related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. The salary compensation for this role is $70000 to $80000. Individual pay within the compensation range for this business unit specific role is determined based on a variety of factors including experience, scope of the role, capabilities to perform the role, education and training, as well as business and company performance.
