Job Description Summary
The Events and Communication Team Assistant plays an essential role in fostering community and engagement at Davis & Harris and The K through creative and inclusive programming. This position is responsible for the planning, promotion, and execution of weekly events that enhance the resident experience.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Event Planning and Logistics
    • Plan, coordinate, and execute weekly events and programs for our residents
    • Reserve spaces, order supplies, and set up/take down event equipment and materials
    • Ensure all event logistics are organized and executed smoothly and professionally
  • Budget Management
    • Track and manage an assigned programming budget
    • Submit purchase requests and maintain records of expenses in compliance with university guidelines
  • Marketing and Outreach
    • Create promotional materials (flyers, posters, social media content, etc.) to advertise events
    • Strategically market events to encourage strong resident participation and engagement
  • Community Building
    • Cultivate a welcoming and inclusive environment through intentional programming
    • Develop events that reflect resident interests and promote community values
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Work closely with Residence Life staff, campus partners, and other student leaders to coordinate programming efforts
    • Participate in regular planning meetings and contribute to team brainstorming and evaluation sessions
  • Administrative Support
    • Maintain a programming calendar and event tracking log
    • Assist with post-event evaluations and feedback collection
    • Keep shared files and supply inventories organized and up to date
  • Social Media Management
    • Manage and curate content for the official Davis and Harris and The K Instagram accounts
    • Engage with followers to build a positive and interactive digital community
    • Brainstorm creative and strategic ways to increase reach, engagement, and storytelling
  • Marketing and Content Creation
    • Design flyers, digital signage, and other marketing materials to promote events, resources, and community updates
    • Assist with filming, editing, and producing video content for social media platforms
Required Qualifications
Little to minimal prior experience. Ability to learn support process. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
