Job description

Description

We are seeking a Software Quality Assurance Engineer who will help test our software and hardware. This will involve creating test plans and test cases, executing those test runs and reporting any defects found to the development team. This position requires the physical ability to perform golf swings or throws repetitively and setup physical test equipment. We use JIRA as our defecting tracking software and use Test Rail for our test case management software.

Primary Functions

  • Develop, create, and execute test plans, test suites and maintain automation scripts in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Working with product owners and developers to define acceptance criteria, identify risks, and plan testing coverage for upcoming features.
  • Reproduce, troubleshoot, and analyze reported defects and field issues.
  • Assist in developing major testing initiatives using a combination of process, people, and effective testing methodologies.
  • Provides feedback to production and development on the state of the game via issues reported in bug-tracking software, timely test status updates, and via e-mail, messaging, and face-to-face interactions.
  • Track quality assurance metrics like defect clustering, open bug counts, defects, and escaped defects using a variety of tools like JIRA, Test Rail and Automation results.
  • Maintains test and automation scripts to ensure that these stay up to date with the latest testing tools and test strategies.

Work Environment

This job requires physical movement and practice to execute swings and throws repetitively in game simulators. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.


This position is currently hybrid and requires 2-3 days onsite at our Carlsbad, CA office.

Requirements

Required Education, Experience & Skills

  • 3+ years of Software Quality Assurance experience or relevant sports experience.
  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other related area.
  • Technical Background and ability to contribute to day-to-day testing/engineering efforts.
  • Fundamental understanding of defect reporting, version control, and configuration management best practices, along with different testing phase best practices and objectives (functional, system integration, UAT, performance).
  • General experience with automation best practices and development tools; Unit and Integration testing of APIs.
  • Ability to prioritize and work independently, as well as in a team environment.
  • Understanding of multiple individual and team sports and ability to perform repetitive physical activities related to simulator testing.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve product issues in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ability to thrive while working in a fast-paced working environment, with the ability to juggle multiple projects.
  • Solid PC skills, including ability to use Microsoft Office products, bug tracking software like JIRA and test case management systems like Test Rail.
  • Ability to travel occasionally, up to 25% of time.
  • Working knowledge of Scripting in general practices with experience using Python preferred. Affinity with Unity and C# preferred.
