What is an event sales associate?

Event Sales Associates are professionals who specialize in selling and promoting event spaces, services, or packages to clients. They work closely with individuals or organizations to understand their event needs, provide venue or service recommendations, and negotiate contracts. Their responsibilities include generating leads, conducting tours, preparing proposals, and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the sales process. Event Sales Associates are essential in helping venues or event companies meet their sales targets and build lasting client relationships.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an event sales associate?

To thrive as an Event Sales Associate, you need strong sales acumen, negotiation skills, and a background in marketing or hospitality, often supported by a bachelor’s degree or relevant experience. Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) software, event management platforms, and sales tracking tools is typically required. Outstanding communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills help you connect with clients and manage multiple projects efficiently. These abilities are vital for meeting sales targets, ensuring client satisfaction, and driving repeat business in a competitive events industry.

What are some common challenges faced by event sales associates and how can they be overcome?

Event Sales Associates often encounter challenges such as managing multiple client inquiries simultaneously, meeting ambitious sales targets, and adapting to last-minute changes in event details. To overcome these, strong organizational and time-management skills are essential, as is the ability to communicate clearly and proactively with both clients and internal teams. Building a solid understanding of the venue’s offerings and maintaining a flexible, solution-oriented attitude can help you navigate these challenges and provide excellent service.

Job description

Hybrid - Southern CA

The Role

As a Senior Event Sales Specialist on the Core team, you handle everything from standard group bookings to large corporate events and gatherings of 100 or more guests. You bring experience and polish to every conversation, navigate complex multi-stakeholder sales cycles with confidence, and earn the trust of clients who come back year after year. We lead with presence - Lucky Strike Entertainment operates a camera-first policy. All video calls with clients and internal stakeholders require cameras on, and we expect associates to show up polished and professional - that means appropriate attire, a clean environment, and the kind of executive presence that reflects the brand we represent.

What You'll Do

Convert and Close at Every Level

  • Own the full sales cycle for groups of 13 and above - from standard social events to large-scale corporate buyouts and complex 100+ guest events
  • Navigate multi-stakeholder decision-making, longer timelines, and higher-complexity contracts with confidence
  • Match every client to the right venue, package, and custom experience for their group size and goals

Build and Grow Your Territory

  • Own all local business outreach in your territory - building relationships with companies, organizations, and community groups
  • Develop and expand a portfolio of high-value accounts through consistent prospecting and relationship management

Hit Your Numbers

  • Work toward a quarterly quota, paid monthly on a tiered basis - stronger performance means stronger earnings
  • A Commission QRG will detail exactly how your pay is structured from day one

Pass the Right Leads

  • Lead under 12 guests? Pass to the Call Center and earn 15% quota credit. Top corporate account? Pass to Enterprise. When a lead is passed to you and you close it, you earn 85% quota credit

Own the Event Experience

  • Lead BEO meetings for your events and show up prepared - every time
  • Partner with venue ops teams to ensure flawless execution from contract through celebration

Stay with the Guest

  • Own retention outreach across your accounts - bringing past guests back and passing qualifying leads to the right segment
  • Follow up post-event to deepen relationships and grow your repeat and referral pipeline

Show Up When It Counts

  • Evenings, weekends, and holidays are our busiest times - and that's when we need you most

What You'll Bring

You don't need to check every box - but here's what sets the best candidates apart.

  • Proven background in group or event sales, hospitality, or a related field - experience with large or complex events strongly preferred
  • Track record of managing a high-value pipeline and closing deals with multiple decision-makers
  • Confident prospector who builds relationships naturally and follows through consistently
  • Strong communicator and presenter - you know how to tailor your pitch to a room of one or a committee of ten
  • Detail-oriented and organized - because large events have a lot of moving parts and every one of them reflects on you
  • Feedback-driven and coachable - you treat every debrief as an opportunity to sharpen your game
  • Comfortable with Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Excel, and GEMS
  • Adaptable - a 20-person birthday dinner and a 150-person corporate buyout require very different conversations

What You'll Get

At Lucky Strike Entertainment, we're committed to your well-being on and off the job:

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision plans to select from based on your needs
  • 401(K) Retirement Plans and Employee Stock Purchase Program
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Wellness resources, Vacation and Holidays
  • Perks - Bowling, Boomers and Waterpark discounts, retail and event discounts, and more

The pay rate range for this position is $31.25 to $36.06 per hour plus 2% to 3% commission.
