Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Workforce Pathways Program Manager, you will be responsible for leading and implementing strategies to diversify the talent pipeline and address workforce pathways for youth.
Every day, you will build trusting relationships with local schools and youth-serving organizations. You will plan and implement healthcare career events, create a mentoring program, and gather family input on cultural responsiveness. Your work also includes overseeing grant deliverables and meeting associated goals. Through various innovative programs and activities, you will aim to make healthcare education accessible and engaging to attract the future workforce. Your efforts will involve sustained relationships with educational and nonprofit partners. To ensure this engagement benefits the health system, you will bring insights from these interactions to various internal committees and executive teams.
To be successful in your role, you will strategically lead the development and implementation of innovative workforce pathway programs, fostering trusting relationships with local schools and youth organizations to diversify the talent pipeline. You will demonstrate exceptional leadership in planning and executing career events, creating mentoring programs, overseeing grant deliverables, and integrating community insights to attract, engage, and develop the future healthcare workforce, while ensuring strategic alignment with our organizational goals and leadership updates.

  • Plans and develops interactive ways to introduce middle and high school students to various healthcare careers outside the walls of a hospital or clinic.
  • Assures that program objectives address systemic barriers that hinder diversity in healthcare professions; assures planned objectives are aligned with community needs.
  • Works with trusted community organizations to host secondary school students for introduction to healthcare sessions at various care sites that are designed to give younger students exposure to the various careers available in healthcare and the opportunity to see themselves represented.
  • Contacts connections with schools/youth-serving organizations to recruit VMFH team members to be guest speakers.
  • Coordinates logistical planning for scheduled educational events; schedules staff volunteers for educational events and healthcare career workshops; organizes transportation for students and/or staff volunteers.
  • Fosters diversity through the creation of interactive workforce development events for middle and high school students invited to VMFH to immerse themselves in a variety of healthcare-related activities.
