Program Assistant

The Program Assistant โ€“ Health Outreach and Multimedia is responsible for assisting the Executive Director and the Public Health Nurse Supervisor in the administration of health outreach and initiatives at the Texas Southern University Center for Transformative Health. The Program Assistant will assist the Center for Transformative Health in improving community well-being through health education, outreach, and engagement. Our mission is to empower individuals with the knowledge, resources, and support they need to lead healthier lives. The Health Outreach and Multimedia Coordinator is responsible for managing and executing outreach strategies for the Center's Healthy Conversations initiative, while also creating engaging multimedia content. This role involves building partnerships with community organizations, scheduling and promoting health education events, and growing our online audience across various platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health outreach, social media management, content creation, and digital marketing. This is a Grant Funded position.

Essential Duties Summary - Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, healthcare providers, schools, and other stakeholders to expand the reach of the Health Conversations initiative. Identify and schedule audiences for health education sessions, ensuring engagement from diverse groups. Coordinate logistics and communication for outreach events, workshops, and speaking engagements. Develop and implement social media strategies to increase awareness and engagement around health topics and events. Create and schedule regular posts across platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.), using a variety of formats (graphics, videos, polls, etc.). Engage with online communities, responding to inquiries and fostering meaningful dialogue about health topics. Serve as a liaison between the Center for Transformative Health and partner organizations. Design and produce compelling graphics, newsletters, and promotional materials to support health education campaigns. Develop and create health education content for social media, newsletters, blogs, and other digital platforms. Ensure content is accessible, clear, and tailored to target audiences, considering diverse health literacy levels. Monitor and analyze social media performance and audience engagement to adjust strategies and grow our online presence. Use data and feedback to refine content, messaging, and outreach efforts to maximize impact. Develop reports on social media engagement, outreach efforts, and content performance for leadership.

Required Licensing/Certification - Valid Texas Driver's License preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Knowledge: Strong proficiency with social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and others. Graphic design skills (proficiency in tools like Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar). Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage and inspire diverse audiences. Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines. Experience with email marketing tools (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact) is a plus. A passion for health education and community engagement. Skill in: Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Planning activities. Leading projects. Both verbal and written communication. Ability to: Prepare detailed data reports. Work independently and complete tasks from inception to completion with limited supervision. Communicate effectively verbally and in print.

Work Experience - 2+ years of experience in health outreach, communications, or social media management. Proven experience in creating multimedia content (graphics, video, social media posts, newsletters). Familiarity with health education principles and an understanding of public health topics.

Working/Environmental Conditions - Limited standing and/or walking. Handling of light weight objects. Using or carrying equipment. Stoop, bend or lift. Ability to travel locally for outreach events and meetings. Ability to work remotely or in-office, depending on the needs of the organization.
