The Assistant Director - Broadcast Operations advances the mission and values of the LSU Athletics Department by delivering the LSU Tigers brand through compelling, informative, and entertaining broadcast and in-venue productions. This position contributes to the execution and continued growth of SEC Network+, ESPN digital/linear broadcasts, and in-venue video board shows.
45%Serve as a key contributor to both network broadcasts and in-venue productions for assigned LSU events. Coordinate live production elements, ensuring a high-quality final product. Operate and maintain familiarity with broadcast equipment, including switchers, replay systems, graphics, cameras, communications, and signal routing. Assist the engineering team with upkeep and functionality of control room and venue equipment.
30% Support the development and management of production graphics and workflows. This includes creating graphic elements, building rundowns, and integrating video and statistical content into live productions. Contribute to technical execution and step into various production roles as needed during events.
20% Provide leadership and support to student workers and freelance crew during productions. Assist in training and development across production roles, helping to improve consistency and execution. Take ownership of assigned areas on gameday and contribute to efficient crew operations
5% Advances and supports LSU and Athletics Department initiatives through participation in educational and developmental opportunities, as well as engagement in a culture consistent with the values of LSU and its Athletics Department; works collaboratively with the Office of Communications and University Relations and adheres to established standards; other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree with two years of experience in a live sports or broadcast production environment.
LSU values skills, experience, and expertise. Candidates who have relevant experience in key job responsibilities are encouraged to apply- a degree is not required as long as the candidate meets the required years of experience specified in the job description.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with live event production and familiarity with ESPN or similar network workflows preferred.
Special or Physical Requirements:
Ability to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Working knowledge of live production environments and broadcast workflows required. Experience with Ross XPression, replay systems, and control room equipment preferred. Must demonstrate the ability to work under tight deadlines, manage multiple responsibilities, and contribute in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with students, staff, freelance crew, and external partners are essential.
