The Event Manager provides professional customer services in the Event & Convention Services Department of the Convention Management Division.ย The Eventย Manager manages the success ofย meetings,ย galas,ย workshops,ย medium-to-small conference and conventions, symposia and special event production and eventsย forย 50ย toย 7,000ย guests.ย Theย Eventย Managerย alsoย coordinatesย largerย events under the direction and support of a Senior Event Manager/partnership. This work is performed under the general direction of the Director for Convention Management.

  • Bachelor'sย degreeย fromย anย accreditedย collegeย orย universityย withย major coursework in Business Administration,ย Publicย Relations,ย Hospitality, Communications, Hotel Management, or a related field; AND
  • Two to Three (2-3) years of significant customer-oriented hospitality industry experienceย preferablyย inย aย conventionย hotel,ย conferenceย orย conventionย center, or significant operating experience with multi-management of meetings and special events.
  • Proficientย inย Microsoftย Officeย Suite.
  • Anyย equivalentย combinationย ofย relatedย experience,ย training,ย and/orย education.

  • Acts as primary Events DC point-of-contact for show managers and implementsย theirย specificationsย andย requirementsย forย Eventsย DCย provided services.
  • Inย conjunctionย withย Eventsย DCย andย Destinationย DCย Salesย Teams,ย conducts tours of the facilities for potential customers, provides expertise and consultationย regarding facilityย capabilitiesย andย determinesย theย needsย ofย the potential event.
  • Assistsย inย theย compilationย andย reviewย ofย eventย andย contractorย chargesย with appropriate Events DC staff and show management, and reviews documentation for invoice preparation.
