Sales and Events Manager
Classification: Exempt.
Salary: salary plus commission of 1% on F&B only. No gratuities.
Reports to: General Manager and Director of Sales
JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
The primary responsibility of the Sales and event manager is to oversee all aspects of the catering and rental sales process. This responsibility encompasses every aspect with regards to selling, planning, communicating and executing each account.
Essential Functions
SALES
  • Excellent relationship-building and negotiating skills, exceptional follow-through, strong organizational skills and strong time-management skills are required.
  • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to; soliciting new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, networking, and written communication; preparing correspondence to customers, internal booking reports and file maintenance.
  • Possess detailed knowledge of our menus, services and philosophies.

PLANNING
  • Meet with client to design and create one of a kind events utilizing our Event Rooms and/or catering services.
  • Develop floor plans, rentals, menus & beverage packages with client
  • Make all arrangements for rental equipment pertaining to event (billing & payment, delivery on time and pick-up schedules).
  • Work with restaurant GM on event staffing needs and hiring needs.
  • Weekly BEO meeting with GM & KM to discuss in detail weekly events.

COMMUNICATION
  • Communicate in writing with Catering Team all final menus.
  • Communicate in writing with Catering Team any and all beverage needs. (Number of attendees, choice of beverages, client budget, Invoice, Event set-up, etc.)
  • All BEO's (Banquet Event Order) are to be circulated to all departments at least one week prior to event. (Barring the event isn't a "pop-up")
  • Be available for a pre- event meetings prior to all events. (in person or via the phone)Have a basic working knowledge of caterease, excel, word and micros

EXECUTION
  • Weddings & Events: Though not necessary to stay for entire event, one should ensure the client's expectations are exceeded before leaving for the day.
  • Room set up, should be delegated to staff prior to departing from shift; banquet rooms should be show ready at all times.
  • Other Events: It will be required to have a flexible schedule (mornings, mids and nights) and work with current management team to ensure that there is management presence (either this individual, a member of the current mgmt. team or the event lead) at all events
  • Adhere to The Common Man Family's standards of service and policies.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Required training to be a MOD and fill in when needed. During non-peak periods this individual should expect to be scheduled as the MOD. As sales goals are met or exceeded this expectation will be decreased or minimal

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This position regularly requires evening hours and can be late night and frequent weekend work. This position requires a 50-55 work week minimum and may be more as needed.
Travel
Minimum local travel is expected for this position. Reimbursement for mileage will be given from the home store location. Please submit weekly to Pat Mallen.
Preferred Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED.
  • Prior experience in sales and hospitality preferred
  • Basic knowledge of beer, and wine and alcohol

Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Must be 21 or older.
  • Must maintain a team certification
  • Must maintain a serve safe certification
