Event Manager - $50,000 - $52,000 annually Position Summary: The Event Manager is responsible for planning and executing a variety of events, including conventions, trade shows, meetings, graduation ceremonies, dance competitions, galas, sporting events & concerts. The Event Manager is the primary facility contact responsible for strategically and creatively meeting all the needs of clients. Additionally, this position serves as the liaison between the client and a wide variety of facilities associated with events held at Saint Paul RiverCentre, Roy Wilkins Auditorium, and Grand Casino Arena. This position is part of a collaborative and fast-paced environment that excels in delivering top-level customer service and typically requires an innate desire to produce high volumes of quality work, often under tight time constraints. Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
  • Serve as primary venue contact for clients and provide leadership for venue staff to execute successful events, coordinating all event details such as event budgets, event planning, parking, staging, production, personnel, equipment, signage, and event settlement.
    • Conduct facility tours and informational sessions with clients and vendors to develop sound plans for event execution.
    • Develop accurate event plans to disseminate specific customer needs to facility departments.
    • Draw diagrams using CAD software to support event plan details.
    • Devise staffing plans and provide labor estimates to clients that fit within our contracted labor agreements.
    • Supervise event activity on the floor (including personnel) to meet client needs and deliver a memorable experience.
    • Effectively resolve event issues as they arise and lead other facility staff in executing events.
    • Review and prepare event invoices.
  • Support other staff to help procure future business:
    • Conduct facility tours and information sessions with clients and vendors
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements: Formal Education & Certification:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • One to two years in an event management position in facilities - preferably in a convention center, hotel, or meeting facility.

Knowledge & Experience:
  • Strong understanding of facility management, event planning, and production requirements in a convention or meeting center environment.
  • Knowledge of crowd management practices, including safety protocols, fire code compliance, and life safety procedures.
  • Ability to analyze and align facility capabilities with client requirements.
  • Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve issues independently.
  • Experience in planning, organizing, and supervising personnel.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to convey expectations and changes clearly, while understanding the impact of event decisions across departments.
  • Familiarity with audiovisual equipment and a basic understanding of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) union (preferred).
  • Proficiency in CAD or similar software for event layout and diagramming (preferred).
  • Flexible and proactive, with a willingness to take on a variety of tasks and adapt to new responsibilities.
