Job description

Job Purpose
Aravaipa is an event management company specializing in endurance running and mountain biking events. It takes a strong team to setup a safe, professional and well organized event for our participants. Our event crew takes our raw equipment and through proper setup and staging, creates a fun and safe event experience. The event crew begins preparing for each event before registration even closes by selecting and loading equipment from our warehouse into our box trucks, then transports to the event site, sets up, breaks down and unloads the equipment back into our warehouse once the event is over. Other roles may include course marking, packet pickup, timing and more.
Required Skills
Candidates must be able to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly for several hours at a time, work indoors and outdoors to safely load and unload equipment, properly setup and stage an event according to our safety guidelines. The event crew will work as a team to efficiently setup our tents, table, chairs, fencing, lighting, power, and other equipment so that it can withstand weather and be a safe environment for our participants. The event crew may also be trained to setup our timing system, setup other technological parts of the event, our store and help to mark our race courses. Hours will be primarily Friday-Sunday with opportunities for weekday hours to those interested.
Responsibilities
The following is a list of some of the typical functions the Event Crew will be working on for any given event. The management team may ask for additional help in other areas of the business including store sales or event security not listed below, but these are general responsibilities that the Event Crew will perform on a regular basis.
  1. Pack box truck pre-race
  2. Drive truck or trailer to event site
  3. Set up event areas by following site plan
  4. Unload truck on site in varying weather conditions (hot / cold / rain)
  5. Setup canopy structures and properly anchor to ground
  6. Run electrical cords safely to all required places in an event
  7. Setup lighting in needed areas for early morning / late night
  8. Stage, deliver and setup remote aid station supplies based upon check sheet
  9. Setup event fencing and barricades
  10. Setup timing equipment, race clocks, webcams & TV's
  11. Mark race course with signs, ribbon and/or reflective markers
  12. Cover possible hazards with appropriate safety equipment
  13. Safely break down equipment
  14. Pack truck with supplies as event winds down
  15. Clear / sweep course of trail markers & litter
  16. Unload and clean equipment post race
