Job description

About Us

Lehman Speech & Language Services is a dedicated practice providing high-quality Birth-to-Three Early Intervention (EI) services. Our mission is to support infants, toddlers, and their families by providing therapy within their natural environments—such as homes, daycares, and community settings (playgrounds, libraries, restaurants). We believe heavily in the power of the coaching model, empowering caregivers to actively support their child’s developmental milestones during everyday routines and activities.

The Role

We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and dedicated Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our growing team. As an Early Intervention provider, you will partner directly with families to help infants and toddlers overcome developmental challenges. Your work will focus on improving functional independence by addressing delays in self-help skills, fine motor development, feeding aversion/difficulties, sensory processing differences, and early social interaction. This is a part-time 1099 position.  Terrific for OT's who are employed at the school district or IU and want a second position evening and weekends.  Also great for OT who is retired or semi-retired and wants to stay active in the field.  OT makes own schedule and can schedule around  their young children's preschool or school hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Early Intervention Services: Deliver high-quality occupational therapy to infants and toddlers (birth to three) in their homes and community environments.
  • Utilize the Caregiver Coaching Model: Partner with parents and caregivers to integrate therapeutic strategies into their daily routines, family activities, and play.
  • Assess and Treat: Implement individualized plans of care addressing fine motor skills, sensory-motor integration, feeding challenges, and adaptive/self-help skills (e.g., dressing, grooming).
  • Collaborate: Communicate effectively with EI service coordinators and families to ensure holistic care.
  • Documentation: Maintain timely, compliant, and accurate session notes and progress notes according to county and state standards.

Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Licensure: Valid state license to practice Occupational Therapy (or eligibility to obtain).
  • Experience: Experience working with pediatric populations, specifically the birth-to-three age range, is highly preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of typical and atypical infant/toddler development.
    • A passion for family-centered care and teaching through a coaching framework.
    • Ability to work independently and manage a community-based schedule.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to connect naturally with young children and families.

Why Join Lehman Speech & Language Services?

  • Impactful Work: Make a measurable difference in the lives of children and families during the most critical early developmental window.
  • Collaborative Team: Join an agency that values strong multi-disciplinary relationships, professional growth, mentorship, and shared learning.
  • Flexibility: Benefit from a community-based practice that prioritizes functional, real-world therapy outcomes without the confines of a rigid clinic setting.
