The Evening Patient Service Representative primarily works evening shifts, handling patient check-ins, scheduling, and customer service during non-standard hours. The Patient Access Representative typically works daytime hours with similar responsibilities. Both roles require strong communication skills and familiarity with healthcare systems, but their shift timings and specific duties may differ slightly based on the healthcare facility's needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Evening Patient Service Representative, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Evening Patient Service Representative, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience in customer service, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems, appointment scheduling software, and multi-line phone systems is typically required. Outstanding interpersonal skills, patience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure help you excel in interactions with patients and healthcare staff. These skills ensure efficient, accurate service and a positive patient experience during evening shifts when support resources may be limited.

What job makes $10,000 a month without a degree?

An Evening Patient Service Representative typically earns between $3,000 and $5,000 per month, which is below $10,000. Jobs that can pay $10,000 or more monthly without a degree often include roles like sales managers, real estate brokers, or skilled trades such as electricians or plumbers, especially with experience and commissions. High earnings in these fields usually require strong skills, certifications, or extensive experience rather than formal degrees.

What qualifications do you need to be a patient service representative?

Some positions may require previous experience in healthcare or administrative roles, and familiarity with scheduling software can be beneficial.

Is being a MOA a good entry level job?

A Medical Office Assistant (MOA) role is often considered an entry-level position in healthcare, providing foundational skills in patient communication, administrative tasks, and medical record management. It can serve as a stepping stone to more advanced healthcare roles, but may require certification or training depending on the employer. The job typically involves working in a clinical or medical office environment with regular hours and basic computer skills.

What are Evening Patient Service Representatives?

Evening Patient Service Representatives are administrative professionals who work in healthcare settings, such as hospitals or clinics, during evening hours. They are responsible for greeting patients, answering phones, scheduling appointments, collecting patient information, and assisting with check-in and check-out processes. Their role is crucial for ensuring smooth patient flow and effective communication between patients and medical staff after regular business hours. They also handle insurance verification, manage patient records, and provide information about services or procedures. Excellent customer service and organizational skills are essential for this position.

What are some common challenges faced by Evening Patient Service Representatives, and how can they be addressed?

Evening Patient Service Representatives often manage high call volumes and walk-in inquiries while working with limited on-site support, as many administrative staff leave after regular hours. This can make multitasking and prioritizing urgent patient needs essential skills for success. To address these challenges, it helps to develop strong communication abilities, stay organized, and build familiarity with clinic protocols. Teamwork is also key, as you will frequently coordinate with clinical staff and relay important information between patients and providers to ensure smooth operations during evening shifts.

What jobs pay 2000 a day?

Most jobs that pay around $2,000 a day typically require specialized skills, extensive experience, or high-level positions such as surgeons, anesthesiologists, or certain executive roles. These roles often involve demanding schedules, advanced certifications, or working in high-stakes environments. Entry-level or standard positions generally do not reach this daily earning level.

Job description

Patient Service Representative (PSR)

ZOLL, manufacturer of the LifeVest wearable defibrillator, is seeking a Patient Service Representative as an independent contract worker to train patients on the use of the LifeVest.

The LifeVest wearable defibrillator is worn by patients at risk for sudden cardiac arrest (SCA), providing protection during their changing condition. It is lightweight and easy to wear, allowing patients to return to their common activities of daily living, while having the peace of mind that they are protected from SCA.

This is the perfect opportunity for the health professional with patient care and teaching experience to supplement his or her income. A typical LifeVest patient is in the hospital awaiting discharge, and the PSR sets up the equipment and trains the patient and caregivers on the LifeVest. They also follow up with patients as needed to assure patient understanding and satisfaction. PSRs retain the flexibility to accept or decline assignments as their schedules dictate. Most assignments can be scheduled during free time – before/after work, and on days off.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage equipment & garment inventory
  • Contact caregivers and family to schedule fittings
  • Available, willing and able to conduct evening and weekend activities
  • Willing to travel to patient's homes for fittings or follow up visits
  • Disclose their family relationship with any potential referral source
  • Program equipment according to the prescribing physician's orders
  • Measure the patient and determine correct garment size
  • Train the patient & other caregivers in the use of the LifeVest
  • Have the patient sign a Patient Agreement & WEAR Checklist
  • Fax the signed copy of the Patient Agreement & WEAR Checklist to ZOLL within 24 hours of the assignment

Qualifications:

  • Have 1 year patient care experience
  • Patient experience must be professional (not family caregiver)
  • Patient experience must be documented on resume
  • Disclose personal NPI number (if applicable)
  • Have a valid driver's license and car insurance
  • Willing to pay for additional training and vendor credentials (i.e. DME/RepTrax), fees not paid by ZOLL
