3 Summer Temporary positions from June 22nd - October 30, 2026. 30 hours per week.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the program supervisor, participates in an immersive language and cultural learning program designed to support preservation and revitalization efforts for the Stockbridge-Munsee Community. Learners develop foundational knowledge and practical experience in language instruction, cultural preservation, immersion methods, and language research processes aligned with Wisconsin DPI World Language Standards. Responsibilities include active participation in language learning activities, evaluations, cultural education, archival and historical research experiences, and collaborative learning opportunities with cultural and historic preservation programs. Learners also participate in field-based educational experiences within Mohican and Munsee homelands to strengthen understanding of language history, cultural connections, and preservation practices. At the conclusion of the program, learners' complete evaluations and oral retention assessments to measure learning growth and program effectiveness.
STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS:
All employees of Stockbridge Munsee Community must meet the following qualification:
1. Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug and health screening.
2. Must be at least 18 years of age, unless otherwise stated on job description
3. Must maintain an acceptable departmental attendance record
4. Must be able to work weekends, nights and holidays
5. Must obtain and maintain Elder/Youth License as stated on job description.
DUTIES:
1. Attend 1-week training and orientation in preparation for the summer experience.
2. Assist in efforts to evaluate programming, teaching methods, and learning experience.
3. Work with online applications as part of the learning process.
4. Gain experience in language work and knowledge in a range of skills and experiences needed to succeed in the cultural and language resource preservation field.
5. At the start of the program and at its conclusion, participants must be prepared to perform an oral language assessment. This will be recorded and documented.
6. Assist with the annual language and culture camp during the second week of August.
7. Learn about culturally appropriate practices and language usage.
8. Contribute primarily to responsibilities associated with the assessment of Immersion programming, Bi-weekly, participants will conduct self-evaluations of their progress and establish personal goals while assessing the effectiveness of the content and methods employed by the instructor.
9. Participate in the homeland's research trip to Stockbridge, MA and write a reflection paper.
10. Provide clear and effective feedback as needed.
11. Required to attend job-related, in-service, meeting and training to maintain professional and technical knowledge.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must be a Stockbridge-Munsee enrolled member or 1 or 2 line descendant
2. High School diploma/GED required.
3. Must have a REAL ID- compliant driver's license, or U.S. Passport or Passport Card.
4. Must be able and available to travel for approximately one week during the program.
5. Previous work experience in curriculum or language curriculum development preferred.
6. Possess a high level of interest and sensitivity to the needs of the tribal community.
7. Must adhere to Employer's Employee Dishonesty policy.
8. Must adhere to the Tribe's Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy during employment.
9. Must have demonstrated ability to maintain satisfactory working record in any prior or current employment.
10. Must be able to meet physical requirements of position.
11. Must abide by departmental and organizational safety, testing, and uniform guidelines.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
1. This position requires a lot of sitting with occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
2. Evening and/or weekend is required. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
3. Work environment requires excellent personal hygiene due to working in close proximity to others and in an enclosed area.
4. A Tuberculosis (TB) Screening and/or TB Skin Test may be required.
