Position Title: Adult Education English Language Instructor - PT
Location: Kittery Adult and Community Education Kittery, Maine
Reports To: Cindy Furbish, Asst. Director
Position Start Date: ASAP
Required Certification: none
Application Deadline: Open until filled
Part-time, generally 4-8 PM, Tues & Thurs, when classes are in session, 4-6
hours a week, Sept.-June, in the Kittery Adult and Community Education office.
Provide both one on one and small group instruction to English as a Second
Language students as well as Adult Basic Education students. Instructor teaches diverse adult
learners across beginning and intermediate proficiency levels. The position involves primarily
evening hours.
Lead engaging and effective English classes (reading, writing, speaking,
and listening) for students at various proficiency levels.
Adapt and deliver multi-level curriculum tailored to student needs and
program goals (e.g., general English, academic preparation, business English).
Evaluate student progress through regular testing, assignments, and
participation, providing constructive feedback.
Foster a supportive, interactive, and culturally sensitive learning
environment.
Work collaboratively with volunteers and the academic team on
curriculum refinement and professional development.
Bachelor's degree and commitment to serving a diverse population.
Preferred: Teaching experience; experience with diverse populations.
Excellent management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in using instructional technology and online learning
platforms
Must be available for scheduled evening hours.
