Description

Position Function:

The Community Engagement Specialist will interact with a diverse group of important external and internal stakeholders at all levels of the organization. This position is responsible for the administrative support of a well-designed and well-thought-out plan that promotes OCOK and the care for foster children in our community.


Working Conditions:

Occasional work on weekends and some evening as necessary. The position is sensitive to the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.

Please note, this position will participate on an engagement team primarily serving the Eastern counties of Region 3 including: Collin, Grayson, Fannin, Hunt, Rockwall, Kaufman, Ellis and Navarro counties. The service area will require travel between areas and flexibility in schedule, as some activities fall after normal business hours.


Exposure to Confidential Information:

Community Engagement Specialist must maintain confidentiality and follow policies related to personnel records and client records.


Key Expectations/Responsibilities:

  • Maintain high ethical standards which are outlined in the OCOK Services Code of Ethics.
  • Represent and support Our Community Our Kids in the community, especially with partner organizations and foster parent.
  • Demonstrate ability to interact authentically with multiple constituencies from within the community to the boardroom.
  • Set up and maintain schedule to facilitate dialogue, discussion, and problem solving among the interested parties, particularly the partner organizations.
  • Tracking and maintain report progress toward goals and other success metrics.
  • Support the setting of annual and quarterly goals aligned to achieve short-term tactical plans.
  • Administratively support various stakeholder groups.
  • Coordinate and administratively support projects within Our Community Our Kids.

  • Recruitment activities for families and service providers.
  • Coordinate recruitment activities with providers and prospective families.
  • Create and distribute all marketing and related materials and information.
  • Coordinate and support presentations to stakeholders in OCOK;
  • Coordinate and schedule with providers for trainings related to OCOK recruitment and retention activities.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university and 2+ years relevant administrative experience, or commensurate combination of relevant experience and education.


Experience: Two years of experience in social services/education and/or behavioral health with an understanding of the child welfare system preferred. The successful candidate must be able to comfortably support multiple constituency groups, including neighborhood representatives, individuals from the state and local government agencies, foster parents and community partners. Non-profit or government work experience preferred. Demonstrated experience with working in community engagement for a fast-paced, ever-changing organization. The employee has outstanding writing, presentation and communication skills and editorial expertise. Proven excellent interpersonal communication, teamwork, and organizational skills. Must have comprehensive knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database, and presentation software, including Word, Excel, and other MS Office products.


Functional: Community Engagement Specialist will build and nurture the external and internal critical relationships and establish processes to effectively accomplish the mission of Our Community Our Kids. This position will successfully maintain and support partnerships with community stakeholders including various child-serving agencies, service providers, administrative, clinical staff, and foster parents. Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, and organize the diversified workload.
