Job Overview:
Shooters Waterfront in Fort Lauderdale, FL is looking for HOST to join our fast-paced, high-volume location. We are currently searching for candidates with previous Open Table and Toast experience to join our team.
The Host is positioned as the leading representative of the Restaurant from responding to phone or reservation inquiries to being readily available to discuss menu or allergy restrictions, the Host is prepared to make a customer’s visit most enjoyable. The position requires an upbeat, organized self-driven leader who possesses the ability to perform calmly in a fast-paced dynamic restaurant environment.
Reports to: Dining Room Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
  • Drives the door. Is able to analyze and prepare for putting people on the waitlist and knowing when and how long the wait should entail. Plots all reservations for busy nights and directs the hosts as to how the shift will run.
  • Notifies management of large parties in preparation for high-volume orders.
  • Ensures host station is shift ready with fully stocked, well-organized items and materials, as well as, surrounding areas are clean and free from debris or obtrusion.
  • Uploads the “Daily Floor Plan” information into Open Table, provided by Floor Manager. Plots out tables for large parties.
  • Politely answers phones to respond to inquiries, verify wait times, finalize reservations, or to-go orders. Readily prepared to answer questions pertaining to wait times, menu items, daily specials, local areas and directions.
  • Openly greets guests in a polite, efficient manner to ensure a “welcoming feel” and attentive atmosphere. Constantly tries to exceed guests’ expectations.
  • Provides consistent interaction with guests during arrival, wait times and departure to create a memorable dining experience. Creatively entertains and informs guests during wait times to decrease the monotony of waiting.
  • Maintains full control of customer flow at all times, whether through direct interaction or indirect via wait staff.
  • Guarantees guests are equally distributed among wait staff to provide a free-flowing environment of fairness.
  • Observes tables and keep track of clean, dirty or unoccupied seating.
  • Assists in the completion of to-go orders, ensuring all orders are properly bagged and equipped.
  • Attends all scheduled employee meetings. Participates; in providing suggestions for company improvement and staff development.
  • Additional duties as assigned by General Manager or direct supervisor.

Required Qualifications/Skills:
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of one year of related experience and/or training.
  • Candidates must be available to work flexible hours including morning, afternoons, evening, nights, weekends and or holidays.
  • Must be able to work independently and carry out assignments within the parameters of instructions given prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Proficient in a variety of restaurant-based computer software programs, such as POS, MS Office, Open Table and other restaurant management software.
  • Must possess reliable transportation.
  • Reliable, consistent work attendance.
