Our Integrity Fab and Machine location in Breckenridge, MI is looking for a Snag Grinder Operator for 2nd shift (4pm-4am M-TH with a 7% shift premium)
Snag Grinder Operator
Position Summary
The Snag Grinder Operator is responsible for cleaning, grinding, and finishing metal castings and fabricated parts using hand-held and stationary grinding equipment. This role focuses on removing excess material such as gates, fins, and weld seams to meet quality and dimensional requirements while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform snagging and grinding operations to clean and rough-finish castings and metal components
  • Remove excess material such as gates, fins, parting lines, burrs, and weld seams
  • Operate a variety of equipment, including:
    • Hand-held grinders (angle grinders, die grinders)
    • Swing-frame or pedestal grinders
    • Other finishing tools and equipment
  • Position and secure workpieces manually or with cranes, hoists, or fixtures
  • Inspect castings and finished parts for defects, cracks, and non-conformance
  • Grind surfaces to required specifications and quality standards
  • Use measuring tools (calipers, gauges, etc.) to verify dimensions and quality
  • Perform deburring, blending, smoothing, and polishing operations
  • Maintain accurate production, maintenance and time records
  • Perform routine maintenance on grinding equipment and replace worn abrasives
  • Keep work area clean, safe, and organized
  • Follow all safety procedures and use required PPE (face shields, gloves, etc.)
  • Assist team members and support general production tasks as needed
Qualifications
Required
  • High school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
  • Ability to safely operate grinding equipment and hand tools
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing processes
  • Ability to lift heavy materials and work in a physically demanding environment
Preferred
  • Prior experience in a foundry, fabrication shop, or metal finishing role
  • Experience with snag grinding, casting cleaning, or weld grinding
  • Familiarity with overhead cranes, hoists, or material handling equipment

  • Full-time position with day or evening shift availability
