Job Description
At Atlas, we're providing services that enable communities to flourish and thrive, and if you're a WAQTC Inspector ready to safeguard the quality, safety, and integrity of the materials that build our infrastructure and committed to doing meaningful work, then this is your moment. You'll obtain representative samples of construction materials, review project plans and specifications, and perform field and lab inspection and testing on rebar, epoxy, concrete, masonry, and asphalt - delivering accurate test reports and daily diaries before leaving the jobsite, testing alongside the ITD Independent Assurance representative per WAQTC procedures, and supporting the Pocatello, Idaho Falls, and surrounding-area workload.

Core Responsibilities
  • Obtain representative samples of construction materials.
  • Review plans and specifications for project requirements.
  • Perform inspection and testing for: rebar, epoxy, concrete, masonry, asphalt, and other items.
  • Assist in the lab with materials testing.
  • Provide accurate test reports and daily diary to be submitted prior to leaving the jobsite.
  • Track time and supplies for the projects worked.
  • Track training hours on provided documentation.
  • Return calls or email within a reasonable time period.
  • Maintain a professional image.
  • Maintain assigned gear in clean and operable condition.
  • Complete timecards and expense reports at the end of each shift.
  • Assist with the Pocatello and Idaho Falls workload and surrounding areas.
  • Perform testing in the presence of the ITD IA per the WAQTC procedure.
  • Complete all required safety reporting.

You'll thrive here if you have
  • Possess current WAQTC qualification in aggregate, in-place density, and asphalt.
  • Read and follow procedures.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs., stand for extended periods of time, and work outdoors.
  • A valid driving license, with a clean driving record, proof of insurance
  • The ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, and random tests after hire.
  • Must have a professional work ethic, willingness to learn, and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Work in a cooperative and courteous manner with the public, contractors, supervisors, and other department staff.
  • Able to work weekends, early morning, or late evening hours
  • Possess current ACI qualification in field testing.
  • High School diploma/GED
  • Candidate will be required to pursue and maintain relevant certifications such as: IQP's, Individual testing qualifications and ICC's
  • General computer skills such as: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Advanced understanding of construction materials testing.
  • Basic mathematic and writing skills.
  • Communication through phone calls and email.
  • Knowledge of ITD's reporting system and specification manuals.
