Our Mission

Oceanside Community Services, LLP offers specialized services for treatment of children, adolescents and adults with varying behavioral, emotional and/or developmental challenges. We are located in Southern Maine and are a for-profit behavioral health organization. The Clinicโ€™s therapeutic services offer a wide variety of therapies to the community which include individual, family and group work. We offer an integrated approach by collaborating with other external providers who offer other services such as in-home support and case management. At Oceanside Community Services, LLP we promote the well-being of the individuals and families we serve by supporting, integrating and collaborating with children and families. We do so by removing barriers to services and offering quality care through evidence based practice, risk management and collaborative efforts. We specialize in treatment of children, adolescents and adults with varying behavioral and emotional challenges. We also strive toward working collaboratively with individuals with developmental challenges. The overall objective of our mission is to provide individuals the opportunity to live the most independent and fulfilling life possible.

The Role of the Social History Writer at OCS

As a Part-Time patient history writer at Oceanside Community Services, you will create social histories from referrals, questionnaires, interview notes, and other sources. You will independently conduct research to support your work. You will meet with the report administrator on a regular basis to track your progress, deal with any problems you may
be having, and identify errors, inconsistencies, or contradictions in content or methodology.

To be ready for efficient review and final edit by the administrator, your deliverables must be clear, concise, and unbiased (equitable, and without editorial/authorial moral arbitration aside from an overall gentleness in tone). Above all, your work must be very, very accurate; all diagnoses, medications, family history details, significant life events, et cetera, must be precisely as reported.

Additionally, many of our patients have suffered trauma, so this position requires discretion, sensitivity, timeliness, insight, and absolute adherence to house confidentiality policies.

Required Qualifications/Skills To Be Successful

The most eligible candidates will have some background in psychology, medical care or support, behavioral health, clinical documentation, casework/social work, philosophy, and/or professional writing. However, here are a few more general contributions we'll be looking for in our next social history writer:

-Strong writing/editing skills with exceptional attention to detail
-Strong organizational skills (capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines; ability to collate from multiple sources)
-Commitment to HIPAA compliance and confidentiality
-Ability to work independently (e.g., conduct research when necessary)
-Patience, compassion, and objectivity
-Degree preferred (exceptional high school graduates will be considered)

Making an Impact: The Social History Writer's Workweek

Although this position does offer work-from-home flexibility, our writers generally set their own hours across a M-F schedule. You will receive your assignments by Saturday evening; your deadline for the week is eight (8) days later.

It is essential that your work reflect considerable care, as it will be edited downstream by the administrator prior to submission to OCS doctors. Please note that any evidence of AI use in your work will be grounds for immediate dismissal. This is an analog writing position.
