Shifts: Currently, we are looking to hire full-time, part-time, and casual employees for the evening and overnight shifts. Evening Shift: 2 pm - 10:30 pm. Overnight Shift: 10:15 pm - 6:15 am
Starting Wage: $23.25 - $26.25 / hour depending on experience plus $1.50/hour shift differential for overnight shift

Responsibilities:
PUBLIC RELATIONS:
  • Understands that she/he represents Eldercare of Bemidji in every exchange and strives to do so in a positive manner.
  • Understands that excellent customer service is the highest form of public relations and her/his role in providing the highest level of customer service.
  • Provides effective communication with other individuals (i.e. courtesy when answering the phones, assists visitors, guests and residents in finding their way around the building, does not gossip about, degrade or tarnish the reputation of the facility or any fellow employee)

RESIDENTS:
  • Visits with residents routinely regarding cares, activities, menus, likes and dislikes etc.
  • Proactively encourages and supports residents' rights.
  • Understands and complies with the responsibilities of a mandated reported for vulnerable adults.
  • Understands and observes the need for strict resident confidentiality.
  • Offers resolution of or a visit from the appropriate individual who may offer resolution of any dislikes or concerns and communicates these actions to supervisor.
  • Participates in resident customer service rounds.

OPERATIONS:
  • Provides resident cares in a manner that is conducive to the resident's safety and comfort, adhering to all aspects of the resident's individual plan of care and the facility policies and procedures. These duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Bathing residents, including partial baths given with AM and PM cares.
  • Dressing, undressing, re-dressing residents.
  • Hair care, oral hygiene, nail care.
  • Assistance with meals/snacks, feeding residents, providing supplemental nourishments when indicated and fresh water and recording intake as appropriate.
  • Offering and providing bedpans/urinals or bathroom use and measuring output as appropriate.
  • Transporting residents safely to and from activities/meals/tub rooms.
  • Applying lotion to dry skin, taking vital signs and report/record.
  • Observation and reporting of significant change in resident's condition to the LPN or RN.
  • Proper transferring techniques of residents according to their plan of care and positioning for resident comfort.
  • Monitoring Wanderguard system and other security measures.
  • Taking and recording weights.
  • Implementing rehabilitation measures identified for specific residents.
  • Utilizing wireless call system and pager.
  • Utilizing computer for basic computer/data entry.
  • Answers call lights in a timely manner and is responsive to verbal and non-verbal requests from residents.
  • Documents care on appropriate flow sheets.
  • Understands the importance of positive communication with residents, their families, coworkers and other departments, general public and clergy.
  • Understands that all information, either written or verbal, dealing with residents, their families, coworkers, other staff, and internal activities is considered highly confidential data.
  • Has complete understanding of basis of infection control and universal precautions to avoid infection of residents and self or contamination of equipment and supplies.
  • Maintains good housekeeping standards in all areas.
  • Adheres to all safety measures and conveys positive attitude toward safety of self, residents, coworkers, equipment and supplies.
  • Able to control negative emotions and provide care in a therapeutic manner.
  • Attends appropriate in-services, facility education programs and staff meetings.
  • Has working knowledge of fire regulations and disaster procedures according to facility policies and procedures.
  • Reports to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrates dependability and punctuality.
  • Position is considered heavy in nature due to lifting, turning, repositioning, and transferring of residents. Position requires walking, bending, ducking, stooping, sitting, reaching, and pushing or pulling in a variety of situations throughout the shift.
  • Helps assure holidays are celebrated by decorating facility, planning special programs, assisting with special meals, etc.

BUDGET:
  • Participates in control of costs through proper use of equipment, appropriate use of supplies and effective, efficient organization of duties.
  • Understands the correlation between census and income and that expenses must be reduced in times of low census including adjustment of staff hours.

BUILDING:
  • Responsible for maintaining work areas and department in a neat and clean manner.
  • Responsible for helping to maintain the facility in a safe and clean manner by picking up debris on the floors and wiping up spills.
  • Aware of role in disaster plans for the facility and participates in these plans and procedures during drills and actual events.
  • Responsible for reporting the need for repairs using the Maintenance Order form.

EMPLOYEES:
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships within the nursing department and other departments of the facility. Cooperates with other departments in meeting the needs of the residents.
  • Follows established chain of command concerning department and facility business.
  • Presents a neat appearance (good hygiene, clean uniform, etc.) and wears name badge at all times.
  • Demonstrates or models facility core values of: Integrity, Commitment, Attitude, Respect, and Enthusiasm.

Requirements
Job Qualifications:
  • Must meet and maintain State/Federal requirements under OBRA 1987 for Nursing Assistants.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, including writing in a manner suitable for documentation.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certificates desired.
  • Good interpersonal skills including group dynamics and teamwork.
  • Cheerfulness, positive attitude and ability to motivate people.
  • Genuine liking and respect for the elderly and physically and mentally challenged.
  • Ability to work independently and with supervision.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position.
  • Current and Active CNA License
  • If you do not have your CNA license but would like to enroll in a CNA program the class must be completed within four months of employment per State and Federal requirements.
  • Required to work every other weekend
