Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and standard medical equipment is typically required. Compassion, patience, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for supporting patients and collaborating with healthcare teams, especially during evening shifts when staffing may be limited. Both Evening CNA and Night CNA roles require the same certifications and involve similar responsibilities. What are Evening CNAs?

Evening CNAs, or Certified Nursing Assistants working evening shifts, are healthcare professionals who provide basic patient care and support to nurses and other medical staff during the late afternoon and nighttime hours. Their duties typically include assisting patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and mobility, as well as monitoring vital signs and reporting any changes to nursing staff. Evening CNAs often work in hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities, helping to ensure that patients receive quality care outside of traditional daytime hours.

What can I expect regarding teamwork and communication during an evening CNA shift?

As an Evening CNA, you'll often work closely with nurses, other CNAs, and healthcare staff to ensure patients receive quality care after typical daytime hours. Effective communication is essential, especially during shift change handovers, to keep everyone updated on patient needs and changes in condition. Teamwork is crucial for handling emergencies, prioritizing tasks, and supporting each other during busy periods. You may also interact with patients' families who visit in the evening, requiring empathy and clear communication skills. Building strong relationships with your team can make the shift smoother and more rewarding.
