Job description

Job Responsibilities Teach Biology/Anatomy & Physiology courses to a diverse student body using effective teaching strategies; develop, revise, and maintain course materials; recommend/design new programs; maintain office hours; participate in appropriate professional development opportunities; participate in College and community activities, promote the mission of the College; develop/implement retention strategies; assist in graduate placement; attend graduation ceremony; assist with student advising and registration; serve on College committees; promote institutional goals; assist with departmental administrative responsibilities. Teaching may be on any campus or by distance learning, and may be days, nights, weekends, or a combination. TEACHING PERFORMANCE - The ability to present course materials through appropriate instructional strategies to facilitate the learning process.

INSTRUCTIONAL DEVELOPMENT - The development, revision, and maintenance of courses and curriculum through course objectives, outlines, and appropriate materials. INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT - The effective use of required office hours, exhibition of effective classroom management and control, and timely and accurately submitted reports. STUDENT ADVISEMENT - The participation of the faculty member, when applicable, in assisting students in personal and professional development.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND COLLEGE ENGAGEMENT - The participation in college and community service activities that promote the institution, along with ongoing professional development efforts designed to maintain and enhance skills, knowledge, and effectiveness in the position. Minimum and Additional Requirements Master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in General Biology, Human Anatomy, and/or Human Physiology. Preferred Qualifications Experience in teaching college transfer General Biology and/or Human Anatomy and Physiology to adults and continuing education students at the college level.

Experience teaching health sciences and online courses. Additional Comments While overnight travel is not a requirement for this position, evening teaching often is. The instructor should be open to the possibility of using alternate methods of delivery (online, broadcast, etc.) in presenting course materials

The instructor may be required to teach in evenings or on weekends; professional conferences may require overnight travel. Employee needs to interact effectively with a wide variety of constituencies.
