Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager to lead complex electrical projects across commercial, multi-family, industrial, data center, and manufacturing environments. The role owns project delivery from preconstruction and design-build through construction, commissioning, and closeout, ensuring safety, code compliance, budget and schedule adherence, quality control, and strong stakeholder communication. The ideal candidate combines hands-on electrical construction knowledge (switchgear, power distribution, MCCs, fire alarm, low-voltage/fiber, EV charging, solar) with proven leadership, risk management, and contract negotiation skills.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead full project lifecycle for electrical projects including design-build, new construction, additions, renovations, and build-outs across commercial, multi-family, industrial, healthcare, education, municipal, federal, retail, hospitality and manufacturing sectors.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost control; prepare and review estimates, change orders, and value engineering opportunities.
  • Build and maintain detailed project schedules and coordinate sequencing with general contractors, MEP trades, and owners using scheduling tools (MS Project/Primavera).
  • Supervise and coordinate electrical field teams including superintendents, foremen, journeyman and apprentice electricians; assign resources, mentor staff and enforce quality control standards.
  • Manage procurement and installation of major electrical equipment: switchgear, motor control centers, transformers, generators, breakers, in-plant distribution systems, battery systems, and instrumentation.
  • Ensure NEC, local codes, NFPA, and owner-specific compliance on all projects; coordinate permitting, inspections and code reviews.
  • Oversee low-voltage systems including fire alarm, structured cabling, fiber optic installation and splicing, security, and control systems; coordinate with IT and commissioning teams.
  • Lead commissioning, testing and startup of power distribution, emergency systems, UPS, gensets, solar and EV charging installations and coordinate with vendors and third-party inspectors.
  • Implement and enforce safety and quality programs on-site; conduct risk assessments, manage corrective actions and respond to emergency repairs.
  • Negotiate contracts, subcontracts and vendor agreements; manage subcontractor performance and claims resolution.
  • Communicate effectively with owners, architects, engineers, general contractors and stakeholders; provide regular project reporting, forecasts and executive-level summaries.
  • Monitor project performance metrics; perform root-cause analysis for issues and implement continuous improvement measures.
  • Support business development efforts by preparing proposals, scopes of work, and presenting technical solutions to clients.
  • Coordinate facility maintenance, WWTP/wastewater projects, and in-plant electrical upgrades when required; support life-cycle planning and O&M handover documentation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent work experience; Master Electrician or Journeyman Electrician certification preferred.
  • Minimum 7+ years experience managing electrical construction projects, with demonstrated experience in commercial, multi-family and industrial projects; experience in data centers, semiconductor, battery plants, food/beverage, pharmaceutical, or heavy manufacturing is a strong plus.
  • Proven track record with design-build delivery, new construction, additions, renovations and tenant build-outs.
  • Deep technical knowledge of electrical systems: power distribution, switchgear, MCCs, transformers, breakers, motor control, instrumentation, emergency systems, high and low voltage systems, in-plant distribution and generating systems.
  • Experience with fire alarm systems, low-voltage structured cabling, fiber optics and splicing, EV charging, solar installations and building systems integration.
  • Strong budgeting, estimating and cost control skills; familiarity with procurement and materials management for electrical contracting.
  • Proficient with project scheduling and collaboration tools (MS Project, Primavera, Procore, PlanGrid or similar).
  • Demonstrated leadership in supervising field crews and subcontractors, enforcing quality control, and promoting site safety (OSHA certifications preferred, OSHA-30 a plus).
  • Excellent stakeholder communication and negotiation skills; experience with contract negotiation, claims management and risk mitigation.
