How does working in a European time zone impact collaboration with global teams?

Working in a European Time Zone often involves coordinating with colleagues and clients across different regions, which can mean early morning or late afternoon meetings to accommodate various time zones. Effective communication and flexibility are key to ensuring smooth collaboration, especially when projects involve partners in North America or Asia. Many organizations provide tools and set clear expectations to help manage time differences, and team members often stagger their hours or use asynchronous communication to stay connected. This environment fosters strong organizational and time management skills while offering valuable experience in international teamwork.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a professional working in the European time zone, and why are they important?

A professional working in the European Time Zone should have strong organizational and time management skills, along with relevant qualifications for their specific role and an understanding of European business practices. Familiarity with collaboration tools like Microsoft Teams, Slack, and international communication platforms is often necessary. Excellent cross-cultural communication, adaptability, and the ability to coordinate with colleagues in multiple time zones are valuable soft skills. These abilities are essential for effective collaboration, meeting deadlines, and maintaining productivity in a geographically diverse workforce.

What does it mean to work in a European time zone?

Working in a European time zone means that your work schedule aligns with the standard time zones used across Europe, such as Central European Time (CET), Eastern European Time (EET), or Western European Time (WET). This is important for remote and global teams to ensure overlap in working hours with colleagues or clients based in Europe. It may require adjusting your work hours if you are located outside of Europe to match the typical 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. schedule in those time zones.

Re-posted 7 days ago

Job description

Iterative Health is a healthcare technology and services company powering the acceleration of clinical research to transform patient outcomes.

We built a leading performance-driven network of 100+ sites across the US, Europe, India, and Australia, conducting research directly in the communities where care is delivered across gastrointestinal, hepatology, obesity, and cardiology. By combining deep clinical trial expertise with cutting-edge AI, we connect sponsors' scientific ambitions with high-performing research teams that expedite and expand access to novel therapeutics for patients in need. Today, Iterative Health is headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and New York City with 250+ employees world-wide.

As the Research Budget Specialist - Ex- US at Iterative Health you will be a key player in our global research operations, owning ex-US clinical trial budgeting, contracting, and financial performance across our international site network. This role sits at the crossroads of finance and clinical operations — partnering closely with Clinical Operations, Finance, Legal, Business Development, and site leadership to keep study startup on track and sponsor relationships running smoothly. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, globally-minded finance professional with deep experience in clinical trial budget negotiations, a strong grasp of international contracting nuances, and the flexibility to operate across time zones as our European network continues to grow.

Where You'll Drive Impact

  • Manage the development, negotiation, and execution of clinical trial budgets, Clinical Trial Agreements (CTAs), amendments, and related study agreements across a global network of research sites, with a primary focus on ex-US markets.
  • Develop and maintain standardized budgeting methodologies, negotiation tools, and country-specific rate cards.
  • Prepare sponsor budget estimates, feasibility assessments, and pricing analyses to support new study opportunities and partnerships.
  • Partner with Clinical Operations and site leadership to support study startup, activation metrics, and operational readiness.
  • Collaborate with post-award teams to ensure accurate invoicing and adherence to contractual payment terms.
  • Coordinate with Legal and Procurement teams to support contract compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Performs related duties as requested
What You Bring to the Team
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Healthcare Administration, Life Sciences, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in clinical trial budgeting, contracting, clinical research finance, or related research administration, including exposure to ex-US budget negotiations.
  • Flexibility to work starting at 6:00AM ET to support partial coverage of European time zones.
  • Experience negotiating clinical trial budgets and contracts with sponsors, CROs, and international research sites.
  • Working knowledge of clinical trial operations, study startup processes, and research financial management.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines in a fast-paced, global environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Polish clinical trial budgets or familiarity with Central/Eastern European research market rates and contracting norms.
  • Background in healthcare technology, biotech, or a multi-site clinical research network.

How We Work

  • Collaborative and low-ego team environment
  • High ownership and accountability culture
  • Fast-paced and highly iterative growth environment
  • Open communication and continuous learning mindset
  • Mission-driven organization focused on improving patient outcomes
  • Comfortable navigating evolving business priorities and opportunities

Benefits That Support You

We believe great teams do their best work when they feel supported — professionally and personally.

  • Hybrid work environment with in-office collaboration two days per week in either our NYC or Boston office
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, with up to 80% of premiums covered by Iterative Health
  • Mental health and wellness support through Spring Health
  • Health HSA or FSA options, and commuter FSA contributions supported by Iterative Health
  • Unlimited PTO, 12 company holidays, and a company-wide shutdown between Christmas and New Years
  • 401(k) program with a company match of up to 3% (up to $3,000 annually)
  • Weekly in-office lunch benefit every Tuesday
  • 100% company-paid short-term and long-term disability coverage
