Job description

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to guide the design and implementation of software-based orchestrated platforms at scale. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on engineering to deliver observable, scalable, and resilient systems that enable modern software delivery. The ideal candidate will inspire innovation, drive modernization, and foster a culture of urgency and excellence across teams.


In this role, you will:

  • Lead complex technology initiatives including those that are companywide with broad impact

  • Act as a key participant in developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering complex and large scale technology solutions for technology engineering disciplines

  • Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs

  • Experience in designing, building, and maintaining robust APIs to enable seamless communication between different software applications

  • Proficient in using Python for various software development tasks, including scripting, automation, and building complex systems

  • Skilled in utilizing the Google ADK agent framework to develop advanced and scalable solutions

  • Review and analyze complex, large-scale technology solutions for tactical and strategic business objectives, enterprise technological environment, and technical challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors, including intangibles or unprecedented technical factors

  • Make decisions in developing standard and companywide best practices for engineering and technology solutions requiring understanding of industry best practices and new technologies, influencing and leading technology team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives

  • Collaborate and consult with key technical experts, senior technology team, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goals

  • Lead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

  • 4+ years of Java and Python development experience

  • 4+ years of Kubernetes based software deployment and development experience

  • 4+ years of Cloud migrations experience

  • 3+ years of experience developing API's and microservice solutions

Required Qualifications for Europe, Middle East & Africa only:

  • Experience in Software Engineering, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, education


Desired Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of Kafka experience

  • 2+ years Go experience

  • 2+ years of Mongo experience

  • 3+ Years of implementing resilient software leveraging Event Driven Architecture, Microservices, Back pressure or bulkhead software designs

  • 3+ Years of observability experience (ELK, Splunk, AppDynamics, Grafana)

  • 1+ years of Agentic AI delivery experience.
