Job description

Low Voltage Cable Technician (Wireless Access Point Deployment)Job Description

We are seeking experienced Low Voltage Cable Technicians to support a wireless infrastructure deployment project. This role will focus on installing and relocating Cisco Access Points (APs), running structured cabling, and supporting network hardware installations in commercial environments such as offices and schools.

Technicians will be responsible for hands-on cabling work, AP installation, and maintaining organized, high-quality installations while providing daily progress updates.


Key Responsibilities
  • Unbox and stage wireless access points (APs) upon arrival
  • Patch and connect APs to network switches
  • Run, pull, and route Cat6a cable throughout the site
  • Install and mount new Cisco Access Points in designated locations
  • Relocate existing APs as directed
  • Terminate and test cabling to industry standards
  • Dress, label, and organize cabling within cabinets and IDF closets
  • Maintain clean cable routing and professional installation standards
  • Provide daily updates on progress, issues, and completion status

Project Scope
  • Structured cabling installations (Cat6a)
  • Wireless access point installation (plug-and-play mounting)
  • Closet work including cable termination and rack organization
  • Work in active office and school environments

Work Environment
  • Indoor commercial environments (office buildings, schools)
  • Ceiling heights typically around 10 feet
  • Occasional use of ladders or lifts (identified ahead of time)
  • Clean, operational job sites

Required Skills
  • Cable pulling, routing, and installation
  • Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6a termination
  • Experience using:
    • Fish tape
    • Glow rods
    • Basic hand tools
  • Clean cable management and dressing
  • Ability to follow structured cabling standards and layouts

Qualifications
  • 2+ years of low voltage or structured cabling experience
  • Experience installing or supporting wireless access points preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
