Etsy Manager information

What is an Etsy manager?

An Etsy Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing an Etsy shop's operations, including product listings, customer service, marketing, and order fulfillment. Their role often involves analyzing sales data, managing inventory, improving product visibility, and implementing strategies to increase sales. Etsy Managers may work for individual entrepreneurs, small businesses, or as part of a larger e-commerce team. Their expertise helps shop owners grow their presence and stay competitive in the Etsy marketplace.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Etsy manager?

To thrive as an Etsy Manager, you need expertise in e-commerce operations, product listing optimization, and a solid understanding of digital marketing, alongside prior experience managing online shops. Proficiency with Etsy's seller dashboard, analytics tools, SEO plugins, and image editing software is typically required. Strong customer service, organization, and creative problem-solving are standout soft skills in this role. These skills ensure effective shop management, increased sales, and a positive buyer experience in a competitive online marketplace.

What are some common challenges faced by an Etsy manager when scaling an online shop?

Etsy Managers often encounter challenges related to maintaining product quality and customer service as their shop grows. Balancing increased order volume with handmade or small-batch production can be demanding, and ensuring timely communication with customers becomes critical. Additionally, managers must stay updated with Etsy’s changing policies and algorithms, which can impact shop visibility and sales. Collaborating with other team members, such as product designers or marketing specialists, is key to overcoming these hurdles and sustaining growth.

Job description

Gaia is opening its Marketplace to our own members. Among our subscribers are teachers,

healers, practitioners, artists, and makers — people whose skills and wares are often the

reason they found Gaia in the first place. Our opportunity is to give them a storefront and the

trust of the Gaia brand.

We’re looking for a merchant to build that business. You’ll fill the store by recruiting sellers from

our subscriber base, and you’ll drive awareness, traffic, and conversion by marketing the store

back to our members.

This is a build role. The seller pipeline and the demand engine largely don’t exist yet.

At Gaia, soft skills are key to success. We seek candidates with strong interpersonal abilities – effective communication, teamwork, prioritization, and problem solving – who can adapt to change, manage conflicts with empathy, and collaborate well with diverse teams. While technical skills matter, we highly value those who build positive relationships, contribute to a supportive culture, and approach challenges with a solution-oriented mindset. If this sounds like you, you’ll thrive in our dynamic environment.

Must be able to work on campus in Louisville, CO.

US citizenship or an existing work visa is required

Gaia subscribers strongly preferred

Responsibilities

What You’ll Own

Fill the store

  • – Recruit sellers from Gaia’s membership — identify who has something to sell, and bring
  • them on
  • – Own the seller pipeline end to end: outreach → onboarding → first listing → first sale → repeat
  • – Build the assortment: what categories we carry, what quality bar we hold, what we say
  • – Set pricing and take-rate strategy, and help sellers price and present well

Drive the business

  • – Own Marketplace merchandising: what gets featured, to whom, and when
  • – Own the promotional calendar — launches, seasonal moments, exclusives, campaigns
  • – Build always-on discovery across Gaia’s owned surfaces: home, in-app, contextual
  • placements, search and browse
  • – Build lifecycle marketing that connects what a member watches to what they might buy
  • – Own conversion: sales pages, product presentation, checkout experience, repeat
  • purchase
  • – Tell sellers’ stories — our best marketing is our members

Own the numbers

  • – Own the Marketplace P&L: GMV, take rate, margin

Report performance, insight, and recommendations to leadership

Partner with a product squad on seller tools, payouts, ratings, and search — you set

priorities, not tickets

Not in Scope

This role does not source, contract, or operate Gaia’s tours, retreats, or travel programs. Travel

offerings on the Marketplace will be merchandised by this role, not run by it.

How We’ll Measure Success

  • – Active sellers and new sellers per month
  • – Listings created, and the share of listings that sell
  • – Time from seller signup to first sale
  • – Share of Gaia members who buy, and repeat purchase rate
  • – GMV, take rate, and contribution margin
Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

  • – A merchant’s instincts — you know what will sell, to whom, and how to present it
  • – Experience building the supply side of a marketplace or creator platform: you’ve grown
  • a seller, creator, or instructor base from small to large
  • – Real merchandising and promotional chops — assortment, pricing, sell-through,
  • – Strong direct-response marketing skills, especially lifecycle and email
  • – Comfort with marketplace mechanics: liquidity, take rate, cold-start, curation vs. scale
  • – The judgment to protect a brand our members trust

Preferred: creator-economy or community-commerce background — Etsy, Patreon, Teachable,

Kajabi, Substack, Skillshare, or similar. Experience in a membership or subscription business.

Compensation
  • Range: $100000 - $140000 (USD)
More About Gaia

Gaia exists as a transformational network to empower a global conscious community.

Gaia (Nasdaq: GAIA) is a publicly traded company in Louisville, Colorado. We offer global video streaming of over 8,000 original series, shows, films, documentaries, and practices for conscious living to our members in over 190 countries. Our vast video library serves as a vessel for the community we seek to empower. We are not a subscription service that streams whatever pays our bills. Our content goes deep into select niches of Seeking Truth, Transformation, Alternative Health and Yoga channels. We often cover subjects that other media companies won’t touch.

We expect you did explore Gaia’s library of original shows, documentaries, and films. If our work on ancient wisdom, who are we, our true history, coverups, and metaphysics resonates, you might be a good fit for Gaia. We seek to hire and inspire employees who embrace our mission to empower a global conscious community, who hope their work empowers our community of inspired members, to be a catalyst of transformation. The best work we do every day is to remember our vision is “to empower the evolution of consciousness.”

The perks of working collaboratively with a team dedicated to sharing this mission include an on-site gym; a beautiful solar-powered campus, complete with hiking and running trails, community garden, and a labyrinth; and an on-site, mostly organic café that serves breakfast and lunch daily including a full-service espresso bar featuring locally roasted coffee.

Full-time employees are offered alternative and traditional medical benefits including preventative coverage; as well as dental, vision, 401K, and life insurance.
