ABOUT US:

NewMarket Corporation, headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, is the parent company of Afton Chemical Corporation (Afton), Ethyl Corporation (Ethyl), American Pacific Corporation (AMPAC) and Calca Solutions (Calca). Afton is a leading manufacturer and marketer of performance enhancing fuel and lubricant additives with operations around the world. Ethyl distributes gasoline performance additives throughout North America and provides terminal storage and distribution services from its Houston, Texas facility. AMPAC is a U.S. manufacturer of specialty materials primarily used in solid rocket motors for the aerospace and defense industries. Calca is the leading U.S. manufacturer of UltraPure and high purity hydrazine most notably used for in-space propulsion by satellites, space probes and other space vehicles. Calca’s hydrazine derivatives play a vital role in the manufacture of products used in agricultural, pharmaceutical, water treatment, and industrial applications.

JOB SUMMARY:    Provide general administration for U.S. employee benefit plans.  Responsible for assisting in day-to-day operations of U.S. Benefits to include health and welfare, retirement and savings plan administration. Also assisting with data management, vendor coordination and employee inquires to help ensure benefits align with the company’s total rewards strategy. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist in the administration of retirement, savings plan administration and employee benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, life and disability.
  2. Support annual open enrollment process by testing systems, distributing materials, and answering employee questions.
  3. Maintain benefit records and ensure accurate data entry in the HRIS system.
  4. Process death claims for life insurance program/retiree health program.
  5. Handle all STD/LTD enrollment and approvals. This includes coordinating with on-site medical and HR representatives from across the U.S. Assist with all billing and self-invoicing needs related to disability.
  6. Lead new hire benefits orientations, validate data entry in HRIS system by double-checking employee files and entry after HR Representative compiles and enters new-hire information as needed.
  7. Provide first-level support to employees on benefits inquiries and escalate complex issues as needed.
  8. Coordinate with third-party vendors to verify enrollments, resolve basic issues, and ensure data accuracy.
  9. Contribute to special projects and initiatives aimed at improving the employee benefits experience.
  10. Provide support in other areas of HR as needed (e.g. special projects and vacation cover)

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE MINIMUMS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of benefit plans and practices typically obtained by working in similar roles of increasing responsibility for 2 or more years.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

  • 5 or more years’ experience in HR or Benefits
  • Experience with HRIS systems to include UKG

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office including lookups, pivot tables, and logical function formulas

 Pay Range: $60,000 - $75,000

The pay range displayed on each job posting reflects the previously determined minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries; within the range, individual pay is determined by factors including job scope, job-related skills, experience and relevant education or training.  Please note that the pay range listed in this posting reflects the base salary only and does not include the value of benefits that are provided in addition to the salary for this position.
