Then join our Carrier Engineering Maintenance Assessment Team and Elevator Support Unit Quality Assurance team whose accomplishments make a positive impact supporting the U.S. Navy and national defense!
We are seeking a Quality Inspector to assist with fleet support at our Chesapeake Location. The selected candidate will support the Carrier/ESU Team working on Aircraft Carriers and surface ships for continuous Support throughout the fleet on various equipment including Aircraft, Weapons and stores Elevators.
What You Will Do
  • Display levels of quality, integrity, safety, respect, engagement and performance consistent with company values.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of program quality testing and inspection plans, Maintenance Procedures, Formal Work Packages, Process Control Procedures and Quality Assurance Workbooks in accordance with the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual, TS9090-310 and NAVSEA standard items.
  • Audit work-in-process to determine if product specifications are met and ensure conformance to established company and regulatory standards.
  • Assist in the development and use of technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports.
  • Review, analyze and report on quality discrepancies and data related to production.
  • Investigate problems and develop disposition and corrective actions for recurring discrepancies.
  • Interface with stakeholders to ensure requirements are met. Recommend corrective actions, dispositions, process optimization and modifications.
  • May work directly with customer or customer representatives, attend meetings and deploy for special projects.
  • Maintain effective customer communications and relations.
  • May provide onsite training of customer support personnel.

What You Must Have
  • High School and 5 years relevant experience or Associate's Degree and 3 years relevant experience. May require certification.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills. Candidate will be communicating with customers, senior managers and internal company employees to manage and resolve Quality Assurance Issues.
  • Must be proficient with use of computer software such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel. Job duties will include developing Technical Work Documents, and completing quality reports for distribution to the customer, senior managers and internal company employees.
  • Must be able to obtain base access credentials with in the first 60 days of hire and maintain throughout employment.
  • Must have or be able to obtain DoD secret security clearance.
  • Must have a reliable form of transportation to travel to multiple work sites.
  • Must be able to travel, possible travel 20%.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

Bonus Points For...
  • Experience working in Naval Shipyards or Military Facilities preferred.
  • Maintenance & repair experience on NAVSEA contracts a plus.
  • Experience distributing and managing various training programs.
  • Be able to read and interpret ship Installation Drawings and Liaison Action Requests (LARs).
  • Be familiar with Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) STANDARD ITEMS, TS9090-310 Navy Modernization Program Management and Operations Manual, Joint Fleet maintenance Manual (JFMM), including familiarization with Quality Assurance Workbooks.
  • Have experience installing or inspecting the installation of systems/equipment onboard marine vessels.
  • Experience with electrical and equipment installation on marine vessels.
  • Experience with structural related system installation, including welding, structural fit up, installation standards and NDT knowledge.
  • A Previous NDT certification a plus.

Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
