Job description

Overview
MBP is looking for a Senior Estimator in Raleigh, NC, or the Mid-Atlantic region, with significant experience providing cost estimating on vertical and/or horizontal construction projects during preconstruction. Candidate will have the capability to lead a team of estimators in the preparation and submission of large, complex estimating deliverables. Additional experience in one or more of the following is desired: general contracting, construction management, CPM scheduling, value engineering, risk management, constructability review, claims analysis, and/or contract administration. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
Responsibilities
Main Duties:
  • Performs quantity take-offs and pricing for multiple trades.
  • Prepares and presents final deliverable documentation to clients.
  • Performs quality checks of fellow team members' estimates.
  • Performs, reviews, and analyses contractor and/or designer estimates, with specific experience in GMP arrangements.
  • Leads and/or supports estimate reconciliations with clients and contractors.
  • Develops and/or reviews change order requests.
  • Assists with development and/or analysis of post-construction cost analyses.
  • Manages project-related budgets and invoices.
  • Prepares project fee proposals.
  • Coordinates resources and project workload with other estimating project managers.
  • Participates in the training and development of junior estimators.

Qualifications
Skills and Abilities:
  • Significant experience providing cost estimating on vertical and/or horizontal construction projects.
  • Experience in A/E/C industry preferred.
  • Additional experience in one or more of the following desired: general contracting, construction management, CPM scheduling, value engineering, risk management, constructability review, claims analysis, and/or contract administration.
  • Ability to relate technical knowledge to a non-technical audience.
  • Proficiency in reading/understanding construction plans and specifications.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software programs, including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
  • Proficiency with BlueBeam and/or other quantity take-off software programs.
  • Experience providing training, supervision, proposal development, and business development desired.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Education:
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or relevant experience that equates to this degree.
  • P.E. license, Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Certified Cost Professional (CCP), and/or Certified Estimating Professional (CEP) certification preferred.
