Position Title: Estimator

Reports to: Estimating Manager

Summary of Position:

An Estimator is responsible for material cost estimates that support quoting, pricing, and proposal activities. This role bridges Sales, Engineering, Processing, and Purchasing by determining material needs, identifying cost drivers, and ensuring estimates reflect current supplier pricing, lead times, and commercial conditions.

Essential Functions:

Daily roles include collaborating in a team-oriented environment with cross functional workers.

  • Evaluate the work and material content for every task to be completed within the RFQ.
  • Build a manufacturing plan within Visual Manufacturing estimating window to include labor costs, material costs and outside process costs.
  • Maintain knowledge of the tool manufacturing market, the competition, labor rates, sub-tier suppliers, Work in Progress (WIP), work backlog and corporate resources.
  • Keep in communication with the Sales staff regarding estimates, feedback, and any special requirements.
  • Interaction with customers regarding questions or special requirements.
  • Contribute to corporate quality policy and objectives.
  • Evaluate estimating projects for significant quality risks.
  • Read and understand Statement of Work and incorporate all special requests in quotes.
  • Give comprehensive lineup to Manufacturing upon P.O. to include all intimate details known at time of quote.
  • Review project upon completion with Manufacturing for lessons learned and explore improvement strategies.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:

  • Expert level in Catia and/or Enovia.
  • Keen understanding of Statement of Work and Print Reading.
  • Solid working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • CAD experience and aptitude required.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Thorough understanding of Tool & Fixture Manufacturing Process.
  • High school Diploma or equivalent.
  • Some college or technical training preferred.
  • 4 years previous experience in tooling production environment, Aerospace experience preferred.
