Tax Manager / Senior Tax Manager – Estates & Trusts

Location: Orange County, CA

Schedule: Hybrid | 2–3 Days In-Office Weekly | Flexible Work Environment

Compensation: $130,000 – $200,000+ (DOE)

The Position: We are actively seeking an experienced Tax Manager or Senior Tax Manager with deep expertise in Estate, Gift, and Trust taxation to join our growing practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong tax professional who enjoys working closely with high-net-worth clients, fiduciaries, family offices, and estate planning teams in a collaborative and advisory-focused environment. This role offers a flexible hybrid schedule, strong leadership support, a high-quality client base, and significant opportunity for advancement within a stable and growth-oriented firm.


What You’ll Do

  • Manage and review complex estate, gift, fiduciary, trust, individual, and related tax returns
  • Advise high-net-worth individuals, trustees, executors, and family entities on estate and trust tax matters
  • Prepare and review year-end tax planning strategies and projections
  • Conduct advanced tax research involving fiduciary, estate, and gift tax regulations
  • Serve as a primary client contact and maintain strong client relationships
  • Collaborate with attorneys, wealth advisors, and internal tax teams on planning strategies
  • Mentor, train, and develop tax staff and senior associates
  • Manage multiple engagements simultaneously while ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met
  • Participate in practice development and process improvement initiatives
  • Assist with engagement management, billing, and workflow oversight


Qualifications

  • 8-10+ years of total experience in public accounting, coming from a reputable CPA firm
  • 4+ years of recent experience focused on Estate & Trust taxation required
  • 3+ years of experience at the Manager level within public accounting
  • Strong background in preparing and reviewing estate, gift, fiduciary, and high-net-worth individual tax returns
  • Active CPA, EA, or JD required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or related field
  • Strong technical research and analytical skills
  • Excellent client communication and relationship management abilities
  • Ability to manage deadlines, prioritize workflow, and lead engagements independently
  • Experience with CCH Axcess or similar tax software platforms is a plus
  • Collaborative mindset with a passion for mentoring and team development
