Job Description

Job Title: PL/SQL Developer

Work Location: Pittsburgh PA

Duration: 06-12 month contract

Job Responsibilities:

This is an application development role within the Enterprise Applications Record to Report (R2R) Forecasting and Analytics (FA) application support area of the USS Business Service Center (BSC). This position will work with the R2R FA team at the Muriel Street location primarily focused on developing and maintaining backend SQL and PL/SQL code for an Oracle Operational Data Store. This ODS is a component of USS's Hyperion Costing Analytics (HYC) solution. R2R FA needs expert level SQL and PL/SQL skills to support and develop changes to the Oracle ODS. Though not a DBA role, assignments would also include creating and modifying Oracle table, view and index structures.

Major responsibilities:

Analyze, design, develop, test, and implement solutions as part of the R2R FA systems development team.

Develop and maintain complex and optimized Oracle SQL, PL/SQL packages, stored procedures and functions.

Develop and maintain logical design of Oracle tables, views, indexes.

Work with R2R Application Architects and other team members to understand the application's functional needs and requirements

Provide feedback on and adhere to delivery dates.

Identify potential process improvements and provide technical recommendations where appropriate.

Candidate Qualifications

College degree: Yes - Bachelors in Computer Science, MIS or related field of study.

Years of Work Experience: The candidate must have a minimum of 6 years of progressively more complex development experience with Oracle SQL and PL/SQL in a large scale information system environment.

Technical Skills Required

Proven experience and expertise in designing and developing complex and optimized Oracle PL/SQL packages, stored procedures and functions is a must.

Proven experience and expertise in designing and developing complex and optimized SQL code.

Proven experience and expertise in logical design and modification of Oracle database tables, views, indexes.

Proven experience and expertise in large volume, batch processing environment.

Ability to work independently from both detailed technical specifications and broader functional specifications depending upon the scale and complexity of assignment.

Prepare documentation of program development, modifications to code, testing in compliance with standard operating procedures and SOX requirements.

Personal Skills Required:

Develop comprehensive test plans, scripts and cases and perform unit and comprehensive testing to ensure overall functionality and technical quality of deliverables

Troubleshoot and debug technical issues and problems, monitor progress against plan, and communicate status to Leads

Must be able to communicate effectively, work in a team environment and think analytically.

Additional Skills not required but would be a plus:

Strong SQL tuning skills

Knowledge of Data Warehousing concepts

Familiarity with Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) or similar ETL tool

Familiarity with Hyperion Essbase or other multidimensional OLAP processing

Qualifications

Bachelors in Computer Science, MIS or related field of study.
