Job description

About Neptune Technology Group

Neptune Technology Group is a leading manufacturer of advanced water metering and utility management solutions, serving utilities and communities since 1892. With manufacturing operations across the US and Mexico and distribution reaching into Canada, Neptune is committed to precision, reliability, and sustainability in managing the world’s most critical resource: water.

Position Summary

The ERP Configuration Specialist – Supply Chain will be responsible for the configuration, support, and optimization of supply chain-related ERP modules within Neptune’s SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud environment. This includes Materials Management, Inventory Management, Warehouse Management, Procurement, Supply Chain Planning, and Quality Management.

This mid-level role requires a deep understanding of end-to-end supply chain workflows – from procurement and goods receipt through production planning, inventory management, and order fulfillment. The specialist will serve as the functional bridge between supply chain operations and IT, translating business requirements into SAP configurations that drive process consistency and operational efficiency across Neptune’s US, Mexico, and Canada operations.

This role does not carry direct reports but operates cross-functionally with supply chain, manufacturing, finance, and IT teams, and collaborates with external implementation partners during the SAP S/4HANA transition.

Key Responsibilities

Supply Chain ERP Configuration & Optimization

  •  Configure and maintain SAP S/4HANA supply chain modules including Materials Management (MM), Inventory Management (IM), Warehouse Management (WM/EWM), Procurement, Production Planning (PP/MRP), and Quality Management (QM).
  •  Design and optimize procurement workflows including purchase requisitions, purchase orders, goods receipt, invoice verification, and supplier collaboration processes.
  •  Manage inventory configuration across Neptune’s three warehouses (Tallassee AL, Mississauga ON, Ciudad de México) – including storage locations, movement types, and stock transfer orders.
  •  Support MRP and capacity planning configuration to align production scheduling with inventory availability and customer demand signals.
  •  Configure and maintain Material Master data standards, including unit-of-measure validation, plant-level attributes, and procurement-relevant fields across all operating regions.
  •  Support Available-to-Promise (ATP) configuration and integrate supply planning processes with Sales & Distribution and Manufacturing execution.

 Procurement & Source-to-Pay Process Support

  •  Configure and support the end-to-end Source-to-Pay process within SAP, from supplier master maintenance through purchase order creation, goods receipt, and accounts payable processing.
  •  Maintain supplier collaboration configurations including outline agreements, scheduling agreements, and vendor evaluation frameworks.
  •  Support integration between SAP Procurement and downstream financial processes including GR/IR clearing, invoice matching, and payment processing.
  •  Identify and implement automation opportunities within procurement workflows to reduce manual effort and improve straight-through processing rates.

 Warehouse & Inventory Management

  •  Configure warehouse management processes including inbound/outbound logistics, put-away strategies, picking, packing, and goods movement.
  •  Maintain batch management and handling unit configurations to support traceability requirements across Neptune’s manufacturing and distribution operations.
  •  Support physical inventory and cycle count processes within SAP, ensuring accurate inventory reconciliation across all locations.
  •  Coordinate configuration changes that affect inventory valuation, standard cost, and COGS reporting in alignment with Finance.

 Integration & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  •  Partner with Manufacturing, Finance, and Sales teams to ensure supply chain ERP configuration supports end-to-end process integrity from demand planning through order fulfillment.
  •  Collaborate with IT on integrations between SAP and external systems, including MS Dynamics 365 (CRM), legacy QAD and SAP ECC during the transition period, and BTP Integration Services.
  •  Support integration touchpoints between SAP Supply Chain modules and SAP Field Service Management (FSM) for spare parts and service order fulfillment.
  •  Participate in design reviews and fit-to-standard workshops during the SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud implementation to represent supply chain configuration requirements.

Testing, Data Migration & Go-Live Support

  •  Develop and execute test scripts for supply chain scenarios across SIT and UAT cycles, including procure-to-pay, inventory movements, MRP runs, and warehouse operations.
  •  Support data migration activities for supply chain master data objects including Material Master, Vendor Master, open Purchase Orders, and inventory balances from QAD (US/MX) and SAP ECC 6.0 (Canada).
  •  Participate in cutover planning and execution, including inventory freeze, physical count coordination, and post-go-live ramp-up monitoring.
  •  Provide hypercare support during and after go-live, resolving supply chain issues and ensuring business continuity across all operating regions.

 User Enablement & Documentation

  •  Develop and maintain configuration documentation, process design documents, and system guides for supply chain modules.
  •  Deliver training and support to key users and business process owners across Procurement, Warehousing, and Planning functions.
  •  Leverage SAP S/4HANA Learning Center resources and WalkMe digital adoption tools to support end-user enablement and reduce training dependency.
  •  Monitor supply chain system health, identify gaps, and proactively recommend configuration improvements aligned with SAP best practices.
QualificationsRequired
  •  Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
  •  5–7 years of experience in ERP configuration, support, or business analysis with a focus on supply chain or operations.
  •  Hands-on experience configuring SAP MM, IM, WM, or PP modules (SAP S/4HANA experience strongly preferred).
  •  Strong working knowledge of end-to-end supply chain processes: Source-to-Pay, Plan-to-Produce, Inventory Management, and Order Fulfillment.
  •  Demonstrated ability to analyze supply chain workflows and translate business requirements into SAP system solutions.
  •  Experience supporting ERP testing cycles (SIT, UAT) and data migration for supply chain objects.
  •  Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across supply chain, manufacturing, finance, and IT stakeholders.

 Preferred

  •  SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud certification or equivalent SAP supply chain module certification.
  •  Experience with SAP Advanced Warehouse Management (EWM) or Warehouse Management (WM).
  •  Familiarity with MRP/MPS, Available-to-Promise (ATP), or supply chain planning within SAP.
  •  Experience supporting multi-site, multi-country supply chain operations (US, Mexico, Canada preferred).
  •  Exposure to SAP BTP Integration Services or experience integrating SAP with third-party logistics or procurement platforms.
  •  Knowledge of Quality Management (QM) configuration within SAP manufacturing environments.
  •  Experience with SAP data migration tools such as Migration Cockpit, LSMW, or similar ETL approaches.
  •  Familiarity with SAP Embedded AI capabilities for supply chain (e.g., autonomous supply chain, supplier delivery date prediction, intelligent MRP).
SAP Module Scope

The following SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud modules are in scope for this role:

  •  Materials Management (MM) – Procurement, Goods Receipt, Invoice Verification
  •  Inventory Management (IM) – Stock movements, physical inventory, batch management
  •  Warehouse Management (WM/EWM) – Inbound/outbound, put-away, picking, handling units
  •  Production Planning (PP/MRP) – MRP, capacity planning, production order management
  •  Supply Chain Management (SCM) – Available-to-Promise, supply/demand alignment
  •  Quality Management (QM) – Inspection lots, usage decisions, quality notifications
  •  Sourcing & Procurement – Supplier master, outline agreements, source lists
Work Environment & Travel
  •  Hybrid work arrangement based primarily in Tallassee, Alabama; occasional on-site presence required.
  •  Travel may be required to Neptune’s Mexico City manufacturing facility and Mississauga warehouse (estimated 10–15%).
  •  Active participation in the SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud implementation program, which may require elevated time commitment during key project phases (Explore, Realize, Deploy).
