Job Title: Aircraft Mechanic

Job Description

This role focuses on heavy maintenance and line maintenance for regional jet aircraft, including ERJ 135/145 and CRJ 200 fleets. You will perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections, maintenance, repairs, and alterations on aircraft, engines, and components in accordance with all applicable specifications and procedures. The position requires strong troubleshooting skills, meticulous documentation of all maintenance activities, and a consistent commitment to safe, reliable operations for all incoming and departing flights at ORD.

Responsibilities

  • Perform heavy maintenance on ERJ 145 and CRJ 200 aircraft in accordance with approved maintenance manuals and procedures.
  • Maintain and repair a fleet of ERJ 135 and 145 aircraft, including aircraft structures, engines, and components, to ensure airworthiness and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct daily scheduled and non-scheduled inspections, maintenance, repairs, and alterations on aircraft and related systems.
  • Troubleshoot defective aircraft systems and components efficiently to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Carry out line maintenance on all incoming and departing flights during assigned shifts at ORD, ensuring timely and safe turnarounds.
  • Document all maintenance procedures accurately, including component damage, component origin, condition of components, and work performed.
  • Follow all operational processes and procedures with a strong focus on safety-conscious behaviors.
  • Use appropriate tools, equipment, and technical data to perform maintenance tasks to a high standard of quality.
  • Communicate effectively with maintenance control, supervisors, and flight operations regarding aircraft status and any issues affecting dispatch reliability.
  • Support a culture of accountability by reliably showing up for scheduled shifts and taking ownership of assigned tasks.

Essential Skills

  • Active Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License.
  • At least 1 year of hands-on maintenance experience preferably on CRJ or ERJ aircraft.
  • Experience performing aircraft maintenance on regional jets, including airframe and powerplant systems.
  • Ability to perform line maintenance on regional jet aircraft in an operational environment.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting aircraft systems and components in an effective and timely manner.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow technical manuals, maintenance documentation, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong commitment to safety and adherence to maintenance procedures and standards.
  • Ability to work 12-hour night shifts on a rotating schedule.
  • Capability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while performing line maintenance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Heavy maintenance experience on CRJ or ERJ aircraft is highly preferred.
  • Commercial heavy maintenance experience on regional jets is a strong plus.
  • Prior line maintenance experience on regional jets is highly desirable.
  • Experience performing C-checks or similar heavy maintenance tasks on regional jet aircraft.
  • Familiarity with Embraer (ERJ) and CRJ platforms and their associated systems.
  • Strong sense of accountability and reliability, with a track record of consistent attendance.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training and skill development.

Work Environment

You will primarily work outside on the ramp performing line maintenance on regional jets at ORD, often in varying weather conditions. The role involves 12-hour night shifts from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. on a rotating 4-on/3-off and 3-on/4-off schedule, with shifts typically structured as Sunday–Tuesday with every other Saturday, or Wednesday–Friday with every other Saturday. The work environment is fast-paced and operationally focused, centered around supporting incoming and departing flights with safe and efficient maintenance. You will use standard aircraft maintenance tools, equipment, and technical data while collaborating closely with other maintenance and operations personnel in an active airport setting.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $42.00/hr.
