Description:
This role involves working in the Emergency Room.
The nurse-to-patient ratios vary based on acuity, with a common ratio of 1:3.
We treat patients across the lifespan, from newborns to geriatric patients.
Common diagnoses include respiratory, cardiac, trauma, and stroke issues.
The facility has a Level IV trauma and stroke-ready designation.
There are 10 beds and 2 trauma bays available in the unit.
A separate triage area is available, and competent triage skills are required.
There is one locked seclusion room within the unit for psychiatric needs.
Security is not in-house 24/7; competency in de-escalation skills is expected.
On average, the ER treats 25-30 patients per day.
Common drips administered include norepinephrine, nitroglycerin, heparin, amiodarone, and propofol.
Nursing staff are expected to read their own telemetry strips.
Phlebotomy can be performed by both nursing staff and dedicated personnel.
Shifts are 12 hours, rotating between days and nights, with no self-scheduling.
Weekend and holiday requirements are present, with every third weekend and every other holiday needed.
There are no call or standby requirements associated with this position.
Professional appearance is expected; specific scrub colors are not mandated.
Nursing staff are responsible for assisting in the transport of patients as required.
