Job description

Job Summary & Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside managing directors, directors, and vice presidents in ECM Origination and across sector coverage groups.
  • Participate in the marketing of all Equity Syndicate transactions, set up and manage each transaction in dedicated syndicate software.
  • Build relationships with internal and external clients across Investment Banking, Institutional Sales, and peer investment banks.
  • Research current and prospective client companies, comparable companies and transactions, and potential institutional investors.
  • Monitor and research capital markets and update client and equity databases.
  • Track capital markets trends including industry/sector holding trends and deal participation trends.
  • Build and audit fully integrated financial models including IPO and comparable company trading and valuation analyses.
  • Support ECM Origination and sector coverage groups in preparing commitment committee, filing, and selling memorandums, and investor targeting materials.
  • Work alongside ECM Origination, Institutional Sales & Trading, and Research during offering execution process to coordinate feedback on deal messaging, company peers, and the capital markets broadly.
  • Compile and prepare appropriate marketing materials detailing the William Blair ECM perspective and recommendation on the capital markets, and highlighting William Blair's equity and distribution platform.
  • Prepare and supervise external marketing initiatives which include both weekly and quarterly publications.
  • Seek opportunities to streamline processes and propose solutions to complete tasks more efficiently.
  • Develop an understanding of macro factors related to client industry, investment banking products and potential implications.
  • Ensure all activities are in compliance with applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Additional responsibilities as requested.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • One to three years of experience in equity capital markets, equity research, equity sales & trading, investment banking, wealth management, or other deal structured environment required
  • Proven track record in university studies required
  • SIE Exam, Series 79, and Series 63 must be acquired within 150 days of employment
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical abilities
  • Excellent mathematical, writing, verbal and computer skills
  • Ability to adapt to new tasks with little notice
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong desire to win
  • Developing increasingly sound judgement
  • Thorough understanding of accounting and finance
  • Commitment to satisfying internal and external customers
  • Travel required: approximately 5%
