Job description

Hood Distribution is a market leader in wholesale distribution of hardwood and softwood lumber, plywood, and panels as well as a variety of other construction products to the retail lumber industry, cabinet shops, millwork houses and similar businesses.

We are looking for an Operations Manager in the Milton, VT area. This position reports directly to the Branch Manager and is responsible for the supervision of the 2-3 warehouse staff and 2-3 drivers. Inventory management and procedural controls are major responsibilities of the position.  The successful candidate should have experience in warehouse operations, distribution, logistics etc. in wood products or related field.  Specific knowledge of safe fleet operations and warehouse operations are essential.  

Job Responsibilities:

    • Candidate will manage overall warehouse operations, including inbound inventory receiving, processing of reports, delivery driver schedules and inventory management.
    • Candidate will also manage routine maintenance and necessary repairs on warehouse equipment, trucks, oversee DOT compliance, etc. 
    • Candidate would be the point of contact in communicating intercompany inventory transfers and material processing.  Coverage for Inside Sales occasionally.
    • Candidate would provide supervisory guidance, coaching and training to center employees.  Assure that all employees receive proper training and maintain their skills in equipment operation.  Make all employees safety-minded. 
    • Assure that all drivers are properly licensed and trained and are observing safe driving and loading/unloading practices.
    Qualifications:
    • Experience in warehouse operations, distribution, logistics etc. in wood products or related field.
    • Specific knowledge of safe fleet operations and warehouse operations are essential. 
    • Hardwood lumber experience is preferred.  
    • Forklift operator/trainer certification is preferred but not required. 
    • Basic computer skills required.  ERP system familiarity, Microsoft Word/Excel preferred.

    Salary Range: $54,000 - $65,000 plus quarterly bonus potential
