Assistant Equipment Mechanic – Ski, Golf, and Vehicle OperationsAbout Shanty Creek Resorts

About the Role

The Assistant Equipment Mechanic – Ski, Golf, and Vehicle Operations is an entry-level position that supports the maintenance team with basic equipment, vehicle, and shop duties. This role is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, likes working with tools, and is interested in learning more about mechanical repair and maintenance.

This position does not require advanced mechanical experience. The Assistant Equipment Mechanic will work under the direction of experienced mechanics and supervisors while learning how to maintain and care for equipment used in ski operations, golf operations, and general resort vehicle operations.

The normal work schedule is Tuesday through Saturday, with variable hours based on seasonal needs, weather conditions, operational demands, and equipment maintenance requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Valid driver’s license.

Basic knowledge of tools or willingness to learn.

Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.

Willingness to follow instructions and learn from experienced team members.

Dependable attendance and a positive attitude.

Ability to work a Tuesday through Saturday schedule with variable hours.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience with tools, vehicles, small engines, landscaping equipment, snow equipment, or maintenance work.

Interest in learning mechanical repair.

Experience working in a hands-on, outdoor, or shop environment.

Responsibilities

Assist with basic maintenance of ski operations equipment, including snowmobiles, snowmaking tools, grooming equipment, and other winter equipment.

Assist with basic maintenance of golf course equipment, including mowers, utility vehicles, tractors, and other turf equipment.

Assist with basic vehicle maintenance for resort vehicles, including checking fluids, inspecting tires, replacing wipers, checking batteries, and helping with oil changes.

Clean, wash, inspect, and prepare equipment and vehicles for daily use.

Help mechanics with basic repairs, parts replacement, and equipment checks.

Organize tools, parts, supplies, and shop areas.

Assist with checking fluids, tires, belts, blades, filters, and other routine equipment needs.

Report equipment, vehicle, or safety concerns to a supervisor.

Assist with seasonal equipment setup, storage, and transitions between ski and golf operations.

Follow all safety procedures when using tools, equipment, vehicles, and shop materials.

Perform other duties as assigned.
