Job Description

FUGA's Trends Platform Team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer with strong experience across the full software development lifecycle.

This is an engineering-first role, focused on building scalable, reliable systems, with an interest in the data space and opportunities to grow into data engineering.

The team is responsible for the daily ingestion and processing of large volumes of music performance data from digital service providers such as Spotify, Amazon Music, YouTube, and Apple Music.

What you'll do 
  • Design, build, and operate backend services in Java and Kotlin
  • Develop scalable, production-grade microservices
  • Build and maintain APIs for internal and external use
  • Work across transactional, analytical, and document databases
  • Ensure system reliability, observability, and performance
  • Contribute to systems that process high-volume data pipelines
  • Collaborate on evolving the platform towards stronger data capabilities
What we're looking for
  • Strong experience in Java and/or Kotlin
  • Solid understanding of Spring / Spring Boot / Hibernate
  • Proven experience designing and building microservices
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Strong SQL skills and data modelling fundamentals
  • Experience building and integrating APIs
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP preferred)
  • Experience with messaging systems (Redis Streams, Google Pub/Sub, etc.)
  • Strong focus on code quality, testing, and maintainable system design
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
Nice-to-have experience:
  • Exposure to data engineering or data platforms
  • Experience with Python or scripting languages
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible)
  • Database performance tuning and optimisation
  • Interest in building and scaling data pipelines
